1985 Hyundai Pony

Poorly made car that was made of rust
Poorly made car that was made of rust and was often broken but it did get me around town at least when it was running. It was decent of fuel was probably about the only redeeming quality about the car. Even that wasn't outstanding.

It's hard to believe how far Hyundai has come!
There's is absolutely no arguing that this is one of worst cars you could pick up your date in. Pull up to her house with this, and you're advertising that you lack ambition, class, and any style whatsoever. But when you're a starving student, as I was, and you need a car to get your around, this will do. I remember the lights would dim and the radio volume would become quieter when I drove up any terrain remotely resembling a slight incline. I remember a scooter passing me on the highway. I would avoid driving during windy days for fear that the car could be blown into the ditch.

Hopefully this review isn't to critical.

1985 Hyundai Pony

My Little Pony
Although it lacked in all aesthetic departments, from the boxy metallic tissue-box looking exterior, to the luxurious burlap-sack covered seats, don't be fooled! The 65 horsepower 4 cylinder engine was a powerhouse, despite it's sewing-machine hum and accompanying ticks. All the bumps and rumbles in the road could be felt (and heard) during it's last few years, but that little engine refused to give up quietly.

Seriously though, it may not have been the most beautiful car on the road, this little machine was passed down twice within my family and I wouldn't be surprised if the engine were still alive today. I think we went about 60,000 km without a proper oil change one year, including road trips to Florida and constant weekend commutes, and the Pony never complained. I actually miss this car, as it was the least demanding and most trouble-free car I've ever had.
