1989 Honda Civic

Trim: LX
by kayliss on 05-14-2013
reliable and efficient
I have been using this car for work, to and from Parksville, i haven't had any problems with it.
Muffler and tailpipe were starting to rust, so they were replaced a couple weeks ago.
I'm not exactly sure how many KM's you get per tank, but $40 fills it.

Old Civics Still In Style
Super relible car!!!! I've used '89 civics for everything from a commuter car, to a family vehicle, and I've even turned a few into race cars! Love the design too, it's tiny so you can park almost anywhere, and in an economy where I can barely afford food, it's nice to have a vehicle that will run on fumes when I need it to, but will also take a looong time to get that far. The only downside is that the back seat of the 2-door is really hard to get in and out of unless you're small and flexible; my 6'6" friend was NOT happy about being delegated to the back.

89 Civic
Growing in the 90's, you wouldn't expect to be impressed by something from 89, especially when driving it in 2005! Yet we squeezed every last bit out of it. We even joked how when the gas was low, it somehow crawled back up, probably by using parts of the car itself for fuel. Most impressive if when we were hit hard from behind. There was barely a scratch. Only the tape deck loosened and the rear bumper sagged. Till the very end, most essential systems worked with the dedication later seen in the 90's models. Even better was that this model was less susceptible to the rust and head gasket issues seen in 90's models.

1989 Honda Civic

Trim: Hatchback CX

My first car was EXCELLENT in the snow!
It's hard to review a car that you had over 2 decades ago because you tend to remember it when it became old and run down.

At the time, it was a great car. Most notably, it was great on gas, very reliable (nothing really broke down on it), and was EXCELLENT in the snow, thanks to its front wheel drive. The hatchback is a long forgotten body style it seems these days. I will miss the cargo room the hatchback afforded. I actually cried the day I sold it to pay off some school debt. Goodbye Betsy. I know you're doing "cloud-donuts" up there in hatchback heaven. Oh if you're inner trim walls could talk... the stories they'd tell.
