2008 Honda CR-V

Bulletproof if well maintained
I owned my 2008 CR-V EX for 6 years. As I was a low-mileage driver and owned it between 50,000 Kms to 105,000 Kms on the odometer reading, I routinely changed oil and brought it to my Honda Dealership for service. The only unexpected repair was to the air conditioner compressor once the warranty went out, so, it was replaced at approx. 90,000 Kms at the age of 9 years (2015). Reliable, fair on fuel consumption, agile for an SUV. It never squeaked, leaked nor rattled. I wish all vehicles were built like this! Beware recall on airbags and rust defect above rear license area just above the rear hatch Honda logo (my kid says it's the "moustache area) - this area was a design flaw that a bodyshop should be able to eradicate from re-occurring if done properly.

Premature Rusting of Sub-Frame
Great car until the sub-frame broke. CRV of the 2008 year sub-frame appear to be rusting from the inside out - thus unable to detect the rust until the frame breaks. I am aware of two similar cases in my area but Honda Canada claims that I am the only one. They refer to this issue a an "anomaly" of the frame. My concern is that other 2008 CRV owners may experience the same thing and get seriously hurt or killed and no-one will question the broken frame from the accident. I am posting this to let owners know to consider trading your 2008 CRV before it is too late. I do want to add, as many CRV owners, that I have loved this vehicle, however, this safety issue is important to report so nobody else gets hurt.

terrific ride
The family Vehicle, comfortable, small car easy to park, small but has all that needed in car. When the original Honda CR-V debuted in the late 1990s, its mission was simple: to offer a distinct alternative to more mainstream mid- and full-size large SUVs. With its car-based design, economical four-cylinder engine and sedanlike ride and handling, the CR-V was an instant hit. Priced competitively and offering plenty of passenger room and cargo capacity for most people's needs, the Honda CR-V has long enjoyed strong sales numbers and much loyalty from consumers.

BEST SUV
The top-of-the-line EX-L adds many desirable features such as dual-zone climate control, a power driver's seat, and a premium audio system; a navigation system and backup camera are optional.

Safety features are a priority for frugal and pragmatic shoppers who might consider the Honda CR-V; it includes electronic stability control, front side airbags, and side curtain airbags as standard, along with anti-lock brakes. Those shoppers will be even more thrilled to hear that the 2008 Honda CR-V gets five-star ratings for frontal and side impact in the federal government's crash tests

Another Great Honda Vehicle
Another winner from Honda. I am really impressed with this SUV (especially with the EX-L trim). Rides smooth, handles well, very comfortable, and nicely appointed. Not too many complaints here. I really wished Honda offered a bigger engine for the CR-V (it is a pretty heavy SUV) as the standard 2.4L feels underpowered when accelerating. It could also use more cup-holders up front but that's more a minor issue. I highly recommend the CR-V. I will definitely buy one again.

CRV Great Gas Mileage
The Honda CRV, is perfect for Canadian winters & families. The Crv, has a very spacious interior (room for all the kids, groceries, and hockey bags you can carry. It’s great on gas, and has tons of leg room. It’s sporty, and stylish. I can’t say enough great things about this very reliable machine!!

Didn't measure up...
I'd heard great things, test drive was good, but my first long drive was disappointing. Not a good car for the city, clunky, but good turning radius. Poor visibility - blind spots. Mileage wasn't an improvement over my '97 volvo station wagon. Shorter storage space in back with seats down too. Seats not as comfortable, positioning of steering wheel relative to seat - too high to get really comfortable with hands at 2 & 4 o'clock even with seat raised... Smooth ride on highway, but definitely recommend snow tires over all season tires.

It's a terrific ride
It has been almost everywhere with me. It's great for driving on the highways when you're going to camp or when you're driving from city to city. I don't have to be worried about the car getting stuck on the roads during the winter. Since the tires are big enough that i can push through the heavy snow.

So reliable!
Great starter car if you can tout the price. I won't be switching this guy out until it falls apart. And even then I might just get it fixed up.

Never had any problems, driving through snow, ice, any typical Canadian weather.

2008 Honda CR-V is a WINNER!
This is my 3rd Honda, the second purchased new, and I have loved all of them. Honda is very good at taking customer input and incorporating it into the next model design modifications. And if proper care & maintenance are done on Hondas they will last almost forever, so good long term value. Would definitely buy Honda again, and will probably choose another CR-V in about 5 years when this one is ready to retire.

very cool ride
Even though the newest CR-V has the standard crossover SUV high two-box shape, its well-raked windshield and the arched top line of the chrome-trimmed side windows disguise that with the illusion of a fastback, coupe-like roof line. All models have textured matte plastic lower front, side, and rear trim that offers some protection against minor impacts and road hazards along with its SUV look. A slightly bulging hood, with matching fenders, large bright headlights, and a sharp character line on the side that rises toward the rear gives the CR-V a sporty but honest look. Macho attitude not spoken here. The LX has black door handles, outside mirrors, and grilles, while the EX modes get body-colored mirrors and door handles and chrome trim on the upper and lower grilles. All have the vertical taillights that have been a hallmark of the CR-V since the beginning

Best in it's class
It's comfortable, soft on gas, the exterior and interior design is great. Available only with a 2.4L / 4 cylinders engine but I don't feel the need of a V6, this one does a good job.
I had to pick between the CR-V and the RAV4 V6. I'm glad I got this one, there are a lot of complaints on the 2008 RAV4 V6 automatic transmission.
I love this car and everything about it, here is what I think Honda should improve:
- better sound insulation from the engine compartment;
- more than 4 places for the tire sensors in the ECU/easier learning procedure.
I would buy this car again.
