Ford Focus 1997-2017Change

Ford SE a mid-size car with low consumption engine, do not expect a powerful one but a good street car. its good for the ride of 4 people. interior design is acceptable and the exterior is stylish. I score it 4/5 for its comfort.

This car has great fuel economy. It is very reliable and hardly ever break down. I like the design of it. The trunk fits quite a lot of stuff in it. It is great for travelling. There is a lot of leg room in it and the seats easily recline and are very comfortable. I like the different colours it comes in,. It is very reasonably priced.

I love my car. It's electric blue and a hatchback. The comfort while driving is great. I test drove a few other cars before purchasing, but I knew this one was the one when I drove it for the first time. Ample leg room, and it feels sturdy to drive. I have had no problems with it since I purchased it 3 years ago.

A car to make a nice difference on the fuel consommation. Althought, sometimes the transmission seems to have some problem to ''kick in''

I mean, this car will get you from point a to b. But it's hardly stylsih, comfortable or anything else positive. Not negative, just not positive. Functional

Very reliable easy to drive comfortable leg room very good gas mileage looks good and I am proud to have this as my car. I find it a very reliable car and would buy one again

This car rates high in reliability, affordability, sportsmanship, and excellence. I have never once regretted this particular purchase, and would highly recommend to anyone in the market to purchase this brand and make of vehicle.

Really poor peformance, brand new and stalls all the time. Had to fix the clutch on it at 55,000km.

Very unreliable, sometimes goes backwards when you are stopped at an incline even though its suppose to be "automatic".

Probably dangerous to drive, but I already bought it and there is no returns.

Don't buy.

I absolutely love my car! I especially love the heated seats and heated steering wheel! No complaints at all.

Had the car for 3 months before the problems started. It seemed like every month something else would break. I had to replace almost everything and when the warrenty expired it all started to break again.

great on gas, huge trunk for a small car, has a nice smooth ride, love the option to be able to raise or lower the drivers seat.

Good car to have for driving around in the city, however i did have issues in the past with the key getting stuck in the ignition at times, once actually having to have it towed to a garage to get it fixed. after that fix, it seemed to work ok, but it was quite the inconvenience, and was money spent i would have rather not have spent.

Amazing , takes less then forty to fill ad last a lomg time , like routh ly 300 km or more . Never had any prblems or overly expescive repair costs yet , knock on wood

This car may not look the best but it is always dependable and gets you from point A to point B safely without any problems. My only complaint would be that the doors are hard to open and it automatically locks. Other than that I am very impressed with the quality of this car. Its perfect for a first car.

very reliable great on gas smooth ride, great on the highway and also in the city. easy to maintain. my first and only car so far l have had it for over ten years its the last gift l got from my mother before she passed nl count on my car for everything

Great car for the first few years, but the back end rotted right out after about 6 years. The mechanic said he sees this often in the early models of the focus. If you have extra cash to replace the parts, it's a great car. But not really built for longevity.

Small but has a purpose. Fuel economy is great for the use I take it out for. Got it from a Ford dealership and they had great service.

I cannot believe the fuel economy on this car!! I can go from border west to border east windsor and only use $3 in gas!! This car has proven its worth!! I will admit - it only has 190,000 kms on it so that's probably why its still really reliable!!

Everything has been great. No major issues at all. I have been able to keep up with all regular maintenance.

I have had very few problems. For a car that is now 13 years old, it has been very durable and reliable. Fuel economy has been great, both highway and city driving. Would recommend this car to anyone.

For the most part this is a great little car,when I first got it my pistons went and had to get new engine,,ontop of regular maintance,its great on gas about $30 to fill,only thing I found with my car and as well as others I see the body seems to rust out on all them

Comfortable to drive, Easy Fuel Capless when filling is a gem. Every car should have this feature Amazing on gas (Flex Fuel!. Great vehicle for all the latest technology Bluetooth, keyless entry, etc. Never had one problem with this car. Sunroof is extremely convenience. Heating works faster I noticed than other cars. Same with Air Conditioning. If it's Hot or Cold the Heat or Air Conditioning engages fast making it more comfortable to either heat the car up or cool the car down.

I just recently got out of this car, thankfully. I got it brand new in 2014 and have had transmission issues pretty much since I drove it off the lot.

I was told "this is how this car is suppose to handle. It handles like a manual transmission, but the computer is doing the shifting."


I do not even feel safe driving this on the highway, because it jerks and sputters. I worry about merging and the car losing power.

After about four reprograms as well as a clutch replacement at less than 9,000kms, I decided to give this car up.


After the clutch replacement I got a notice on my seat from Ford Canada explaining how this transmission is suppose to behave. I felt quite insulted as it made it out that those of us complaining don't know how to handle a standard feel of a car. I know how a standard is suppose to behave and this car does not respond as a standard.

I compared the shifting to allowing a six year old drive a standard with no prior experience driving. This is how this car may feel.

My brand new car was erratic in first and second. I brought it in and the transmission specialist even said that they have never seen anything like this happen in the many years experience they had working on transmissions. I had mentioned what I had read about the transmission leaking fluid onto the dry clutch and causing it to slip. They actually agreed with that. That Ford replaces the clutch instead of the leak.

I have heard other stories about people needing a new clutch every six months. This repair would get very costly after the warranty has expired.

There are many lawsuits in the USA in regards to the Focus and the Fiesta. They both have the same transmission, so please be aware of that.

Shame on you Ford.

I bought this car because of it's practical aspects while remaining a sports car with space to haul people and groceries. It is very fun to drive. If you like to drive you'll avoid freeways. Windy roads and wild oversteer mean you have to actually drive it. Passing is fun. Tap the gas and there is lots of power left in top gear. Put the 94 octane gas in and enjoy even more power.

Excellent car, fun to drive, great fuel economy, reliable, handles and drives great. One of the best vehicles l ever owned, highly recommend this car. Have had no regrets owning this vehicle
