Perfect for anyone!
I purchased this car when I was 19 as my first vehicle, bought it brand new. I liked the colour, the style and the features. It has an amazing sound system (which was important to me then and somewhat now), comfy seats and drives like a dream.
Seven years later our car still runs amazingly. I would say the only thing I could complain about is perhaps the fuel efficiency. It isn't horrible, but I would really expect better from the type of car. Perhaps this is something that has improved in newer models? All in all, my husband and I are very pleased and now that I'm 26 and we have 2 small children this car is still the perfect choice. It has grown with us from teens to adults with a family of our own. Think to the future and get this vehicle. It will last you years with proper upkeep and whether you intend to have children or just want a sweet ride to hang out with friends, this one will work for you!

Great little car
I have loved this car. Unfortunately, I had one too many kids to fit in it! Still a great little car!

Average, but nothing special.
We've had our vehicle for 3 years. It currently has close to 200,000 kms on it (it had 96,000 when purchased) , and is showing wear from those kms as expected. However, it's required some major repairs.
At 120,000 kms the rack and pinion went, at a cost of $800+. At 150,000 kms one of the back doors would not latch closed at all. There had been some vehicles recalled due to this issue, but according to Ford Canada, our car had been manufactured "after the problem was fixed", therefore we were not included in the recall.
We've dumped $800+ into the emergency brake cable, having it repaired 3 times and it is again now useless. We've since learned that it's the way the calipers are positioned on the rear brakes. I've had mechanics tell us not to bother fixing it anymore, as the issue will recur every 3-6 months. Started at about 160,000 kms.
We've replaced the accelerator cable because the gas pedal frequently gets "sticky". I'll go to push down on the gas pedal and all I'll get is a springy feeling pushing back, like the pedal is stuck. I have to tap it with my foot (sometimes having to pull over to fiddle with the accelerator cable under the hood) to get it working which has lead to excessive wear on the cable and the need for replacement. Those are the big complaints.
There are other, small things like the driver's heated seat breaking at 100,000 kms and the knob to control which vents are being used breaking at 160,000 kms (neither of which we've ever bothered to have serviced), are also disappointing since I don't think those are things that should give out so "early" in a car's life.
On a good note, this car is really fun to drive. I learned standard in it and have come to love cruising a nice country road. I still like driving this car after all the issues it's caused us, so that's saying something - but we will likely never buy a Ford again. With two young kids, we need something reliable that won't break when it's barely broken in.

very reliable car
I have driven this car for many years now with very minimal repairs besides the expected such as tires, brakes and oil changes etc.. I really thought this car would have died along time ago. I am now well over 300,000 kms and it is still going strong

overall good, reliable car
It's a good car, very reliable, good on gas, great for city driving. The design lacks modern look.
The newer Focus has much more modern look, though I am not sure how the performance is.

Best car I've ever owned
I drive almost 100 kms daily and I have never regretted my choice of purchasing my Ford Focus SES. It now has 180K on it and I've never had any issues. The body still looks great. I love my heated seats, moonroof and leather interior. I will definitely buy another Focus.

It's okay
Very light in driving, have to admit i love it. Worst part is that it's an American made. I used to have one but then I sold it because it was giving me too many problems
