I love this car
bought it as a second hand. loved it at the first sight. after 2 and half year driving, it still runs very smoothly. never had any problem. the leather seat is so easy to take care of, looks like brand new after applying some leather cleaner. and the silver exterior dosn't show dirt too much like dark color. I would like to buy another bigger size bmw car in future

A standard that is hard to equal ...
My second 3 series BMW is just as reliable as the first (a 2003 model). Marred by an annoying check engine light (CEL) that even the BMW dealership in conjunction with the factory could not sort out; otherwise, a very reliable automobile. Car runs fine otherwise. The only other issue was an OEM battery that would run down if the car sat for a week without being started. A solar charger now keeps the battery charged. Still a great driving machine.

everything you'd want in a car
Bought this Spring 2006 produced car used in late 2007 with just over 22,000 kms. from a BMW dealership in Toronto.
5 yrs. and 100,000 kms. later it's still as "tight" as a new car and other than the prescribed maintenance haven't had any other issues. Stock car with winter rims/tires.
Very responsive engine and love the 6 speed manual. Great brakes and very comfortable no nonsense interior.
With the fold down back seats I constantly receive comments as to how much you can fit back there - just recently a 7 ft Christmas tree with the trunk closed!
No desire at all to trade & will keep this one for a long time!

Decent
This car is okay but I think I could get a better value with Volkswagen or Mini. Although you can not beat the luxury of a BMW.

A real Driver's car
It's designed to cradle both driver and passengers in leathered luxury, with fully adjustable seats and headrests. Performs like a sportscar with tight turning radius, quick but controlled braking and nimble acceleration. Manufacturer recommends premium gasoline and economy is not a feature of this model, but the other features do compensate.

Not quite the Ultimate Driving Machine
This is a great car for anyone who just wants to put gas in and go. Always runs as expected with no issues, however one of the most boring and un-engaged cars I have ever owned. This is not what I would expect from BMW. I suspect this has a lot to do with the auto transmission. The car always feels like its in the wrong gear and has horrible lag when you stomp on the gas as the computer tries to determine what to do. Very disappointing BMW, shame on you! Word to the wise, if you are buying a BM, stick with the manual.

Amazing engine, smooth broad power delivery, pulls like a small block V8. somewhat nondescript styling, inside and out. Some electronic isses, window motor, TPMS, battery life. Great gearbox, funky inconsistent clutch action. wonderful steering feel and tight handling , firm but refined ride. Overall a great car let down by a few electrical gremlins, I fear it is a bit of a disposable car that will get expensive to maintian out of warranty since owner servicability is not supported by the design. (no dipstick, no car jack..Oil capacity no provided in owners manual.....) Just had to install BMW wiper blades, no aftermarket would fit properly ( trim issue). Over $100 for a set of blades!!! Ouch! New battery required, no aftermarket could be installed since it must be "programmed", cost $600 ( in USA), ouch! Asked dealer ( in USA) for a copy of my vehicle service history, They refused , said it was property of BMW. Great drivers car, lousy company!!

Confident
Owning a BMW was scary at first. I was scared that it would cost alot to maintain it, but you pay what you get. The car is very very great car. Best car i ever own. The confidence you gain by owning this car , i can't describe it. Its fast, smooth, and its handles great!!!. It goes when i want it to.

Good on gas. Great handling especially in corners.
Relatively high maintainance costs as it ages.
Interior needs an update.

Fun car with some disappointing peeves
Love the car. Fast and fun

The N52 engine sometimes ticks.
BMW dealer says they all do it.
I have learned that this is true.
It is not a reliability issue, just really disappointing as it is embarrasing.
AC was also an issue more than once.

Great value used!
I purchased my 2006 330i used in 2009 for $32k, about the same price for a new Accord or Altima. It was an off-lease car from Toronto, was ver clean and only had 32,000 km. New it sold for $55k.

I had also considered the more powerful twin-turbo 2007 335i which replaced the 330i. However, after reading about a lot of failures with the HPFP (high pressure fuel pump), I decided on the normally aspirated 330i.

The 330i was not without its own problems. Most common are issues with the Vanos variable valve timing system and the electronic steering lock mechanism that could fail and prevent the car from starting.

Thankfully, 3 years and 50,000 km later, The only issue I had was a warning light for the steering lock. I managed to get the car started and the problem was fixed by BMW for $300 through a firmware update. In the event it failed again, I would have to get the steering column replaced for the difference in cost (an additional $500). So far, so good :)

So what do I like most? Very smooth and high revving inline 6 engine, great handling for a sedan with the 18" wheels and sport suspension, smooth shifting 6spd manual transmission, great seats with good support for spirited driving, and a rock solid chassis. Although it's rear wheel drive, with good winter tires, the traction and stability control make it a very good in Ottawa winters.

While available today on much less expensive cars, interior features like power heated leather seats, wood grain dash molding, sunroof, auto-dimming mirrori with HomeLink garage dorr opener and dual zone climate control are very ice. The only thing extra I would want is a heated steering wheel. The one option I'm glad it doesn't have is the

Dislikes? The standard Bridgestone run flat tires are terrible - they make for a very harsh ride. Once worn, I replaced them with non-run flat Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tires which greatly improved the ride while ain't singing excellent handling.

Its a good car till about 175,000 KM
I got this car used in 2009. At 160k KM there is alot of maintenance that is needed for this car. After 175k the repairs started coming through. Now at 250k, I have changed the passenger seat mat (even though theres a recall on this, mine didn't fall within this section), steering wheel column sensor, oxygen sensors, fuel pump replacement, spark plug holder (it holds the spark plug into its fitting), battery along side regular maintenance. I loved this car till about 200,000 KM. Then it became costly. Within the last 12 months, the car's gobbled over $3,000 in non-maintenance type repairs.

One of the most fun cars I have every owned. This cars drove like it was on rails. I had the sport package which was very tight handling and fun to drive. Also for a car with a lot of HP it was surprisingly fuel efficient.
