For 2007, the Toyota Sienna receives a more powerful engine: all models now use a 3.5-litre V6 that replaces the 3.3-litre of 2006, and makes 266 hp to the 2006’s 215 hp.
The “B” Leather Package has been deleted, and is replaced with a new package, the EVP Package, which includes leather interior, vehicle stability control and traction control, and power liftgate. The Ramp Van Package has been replaced with an “M” (Mobility) Package.
The Sienna is available in seven- or eight-passenger configurations; all trim lines are available in front- or all-wheel drive, a full-time system which distributes torque evenly among all four wheels.
Features on the CE trim line include 16-inch steel wheels, CD/MP3 stereo with wheel-mounted controls, dual air conditioning, power locks with keyless entry, power windows, tilt and telescopic wheel, floor mats, cruise control, front seat side airbags, curtain airbags, engine immobilizer, heated mirrors, roof rack, variable intermittent wipers, and rear washer/wiper. All-wheel drive models receive 17-inch wheels with run-flat tires.
The LE trim line adds 16-inch alloy wheels, premium cloth seats, power driver’s seat, driver’s side auto up/down window, front centre console box, dual power sliding doors, garage door opener, and fog lamps.
The XLE adds 17-inch alloy wheels, six-CD/MP3 stereo, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated leather seats, driver’s seat memory, power passenger seat, auto-dimming rearview mirror, wood and leather-wrapped steering wheel, laser cruise control, power liftgate, 115-volt outlet, power-folding mirrors with driver’s side auto-dimming and puddle lamps, roof rails, power sunroof, and spoiler.
The Sienna is a very large minivan, and the extra horsepower in the new engine makes its performance that much better. It’s smooth and quiet, and very well finished inside; it lacks DaimlerChrysler’s Stow ’n Go seating configuration, but that’s about all. In quality and features, it’s pretty much neck and neck with the Honda Odyssey, and will probably come down to brand preference for most buyers. The fact that it’s got real all-wheel drive that can be ordered across the board should make this a popular choice.
