The Taycan marks Porsche's bold move into the electric vehicle market, building on the company's plug-in hybrid experience. It's no half-baked effort: it starts out with lots of power and adds plenty more in its upper trims. Just like when Porsche began building SUVs, the Taycan is out to prove it can make an electric vehicle with performance that lives up to the brand's long history of sports cars.

On certain vehicles, there could be a problem inside the high-voltage battery. As a result, the battery modules could overheat and short circuit.
Note: This recall is an expansion of Transport Canada recall no. 2024-180.
Safety Risk:
A short circuit in the high-voltage battery can create a fire risk.
Corrective Actions:
To reduce the safety risk, Porsche recommends that you set the maximum charge setting of your vehicle at 80% until the recall repairs are completed. Porsche will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the high-voltage battery modules, as necessary.

Corrective Actions:
To reduce the safety risk, Porsche recommends that you set the maximum charge setting of your vehicle at 80% until the recall repairs are completed. Porsche will notify owners by mail. As an interim repair, a dealer will inspect and, if necessary, replace the high-voltage battery modules. Once the final repair is available, Porsche will notify you by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to install an advanced diagnostic software that will monitor the high-voltage battery and warn you if it detects a problem.
Issue:
On one vehicle, a software problem could cause the parking lamps to turn off when the headlights are turned on and a turn signal is activated. As a result, the parking lamps could be difficult to see. Canadian regulations require the parking lamps to stay on constantly when the headlights are turned on.
Safety Risk:
Parking lamps that do not work properly could make the vehicle less visible to others and could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Porsche will notify the owner by email and advise them to take their vehicle to a dealership to update the headlight control module software.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the front brake hoses could fail and cause a progressive brake fluid leak. If this happens, you may experience a change in brake pedal feel and travel. This can cause reduced braking.
Safety Risk:
Reduced braking can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Porsche will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the front brake hoses.

Issue:
Under certain conditions, the 220 V vehicle charging cable plug could become damaged by the house power outlet. As a result, the charging cable could overheat while charging.
Note: This recall only affects electric and plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) models.
Safety Risk:
A charging cable that overheats could create a fire risk.
Corrective Actions:
Porsche will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your 220 V vehicle charger to a dealership to replace the vehicle charging cable.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, there could be a problem inside the high-voltage battery. As a result, the battery modules could overheat and short circuit.
Safety Risk:
A short circuit in the high-voltage battery could create a fire risk.
Corrective Actions:
Porsche will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the high-voltage battery. The battery modules will be replaced as necessary.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the high-voltage battery may not be sealed properly. As a result, liquid could leak into the battery over time and cause arcing (sparks).
Safety Risk:
Electrical arcing inside the battery can create the risk of a fire.
Corrective Actions:
Porsche will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to perform a leak test on the high-voltage battery, and replace it if necessary.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the high-voltage electric heater could fail. If this happens, you may experience reduced cabin heat, and the windshield defrost system may not work properly.
Safety Risk:
A windshield defroster that doesn't work may cause reduced visibility and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Porsche will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your vehicle to a dealership to replace the passenger compartment high-voltage electric heater.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the seat belt reminder chime may not sound to alert you that the front passenger seat belt isn't buckled. Canadian regulations require both a seat belt reminder sound and visual tell-tale when you switch the vehicle on, and the passenger isn't wearing their seat belt.
Safety Risk:
A seat belt warning that doesn't work correctly may not remind you to ensure that your passenger is buckled. Not wearing a seat belt can increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Porsche will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to reprogram the instrument cluster software.
Issue:
On a small number of vehicles, a retaining ring on top of the suspension strut may become loose and detach. If this happens, air could leak from the spring and cause a drop in ride height. This could affect vehicle handling and stability.
Safety Risk:
A change in vehicle handling or a loss of stability could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Porsche will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the suspension strut(s).
Issue:
On certain vehicles, covers were not installed over the horizontal headlamp adjusters. As a result, the headlamps may be adjusted horizontally. Canadian regulations do not allow for horizontal headlamp adjustment unless the vehicle is equipped with a built-in aiming device.
Safety Risk:
Headlamps that are not properly adjusted could cause reduced visibility or glare for oncoming drivers, and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Porsche will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to install caps over the headlamp adjustment screws.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the front seat wiring could get damaged when adjusting a seat. If this happens, the airbag system may not work properly in a crash.
Note: Damaged wiring can cause the red airbag warning light to stay on in the instrument cluster.
Safety Risk:
An airbag system that does not work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Porsche will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the front seat wiring and secure it under the seat.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the wiring harness for the centre-rear seat belt buckle could interfere with the lower universal anchorage system (UAS) for securing a child seat. As a result, you may not be able to properly attach a child seat in the right-rear seat using the UAS.
Safety Risk:
A child seat that isn't properly secured could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Porsche will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the wiring harness for the centre-rear seat belt buckle. The wiring will be re-routed and secured, as necessary.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the bolts that attach the rear axle upper control arms may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the bolts could loosen or break. If this happens, there can be a sudden alignment change that could lead to a loss of vehicle stability.
Safety Risk:
A loss of vehicle stability could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Porsche will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the nuts and bolts for the rear upper control arms. The dealer will also replace any damaged components, if necessary.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the passenger seat belt assemblies may contain defective automatic locking retractors (ALR). As a result, the seat belts may not properly lock to secure a child seat.
Safety Risk:
A seat belt that is not properly locked could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Porsche will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the seat belts. They will be replaced, if necessary.
