Porsche's Cayenne crossover is refreshed for 2015 with cosmetic updates and a new turbocharged engine for the S trim level. That powerplant is a 3.6L twin-turbo V6 that delivers 420 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque?20 hp and 37 lb-ft more than last year's 4.8L V8.
For this year, Porsche has dropped the base model and the top-end Turbo S, leaving four trims. The Cayenne diesel uses the same 3.0L turbodiesel V6 as last year, with 240 hp and 406 lb-ft. S E-Hybrid trim, beyond gaining plug-in charging functionality, gets more power, now with 416 hp and 435 lb-ft when the 3.0L supercharged V6 and electric motor work together. The Cayenne S gets the aforementioned twin-turbo V6, and the Turbo once again uses a twin-turbo 4.8L V8 delivering 520 hp and 553 lb-ft, which works out to 20 hp and 37 lb-ft more than last year's model.
With the base model on hiatus, so does the six-speed manual transmission take a break, so that all 2015 Cayennes use the eight-speed automatic transmission; as before, all are all-wheel drivers.
Standard kit in all models includes a universal audio interface with auxiliary and USB inputs, Bluetooth, rain-sensing wipers, heated side mirrors, cruise control, programmable power tailgate, navigation, partial leather seating, eight-way power adjustment for front seats, climate controlled glove box, bi-Xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, automatic headlights, LED taillights, driver and front passenger knee airbags, rear-seat side airbags, 18-inch wheels, and tire pressure monitoring.
Cayenne S and S E-Hybrid trims are similarly equipped, but add 19-inch wheels and front and rear park assist.
Turbo models get upgraded brakes, load-levelling and height-adjustable air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management, Bose 14-speaker stereo, satellite radio, full leather seating and leather-trimmed dash, adaptive front sport seats, and an Alcantara headliner and brushed aluminum trim.
