NEW FOR 2015:
-GTS model added
To the ever-expanding range of 911 variants, Porsche adds the GTS trim for 2015. Coming in coupe and cabriolet (convertible) body styles, the GTS fills the gap between the 400-hp Carrera S and 475-hp GT3 with a 430-hp naturally-aspirated 3.8L flat-six engine, which can be mated to either a seven-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic transmission to drive the rear wheels alone, or all four.
The rest of the range remains the same: Carrera, Targa, Carrera 4 and Targa 4 cars use a 3.4L flat-six making 350 hp and 287 lb-ft of torque, while Carrera S, Targa S and respective 4S models get a 3.8L good for 400 hp and 310 lb-ft. Meanwhile, Turbo cars get a turbocharged (duh) 3.8L capable of 520 hp and 487 lb-ft, and the Turbo S adds 40 hp and 29 lb-ft to those figures. The 911 GT3 gets a 3.8L naturally-aspirated motor making 475 hp and 324 lb-ft, and GT3 RS models get the same motor, but with 500 hp and 338 lb-ft.
Transmission choices are between seven-speed manual and dual-clutch automatic in all Carrera, Targa, Turbo and Cabriolet models; the GT3 gets the automatic as standard kit. Cars with the '4' designation are all-wheel drive; all Turbo models are AWD too, but the GT3 is rear-drive only.
Standard kit includes 19-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, power windows with one-touch operation, automatic wipers with heated washer nozzles, power-adjustable and heated side mirrors, seven-inch touchscreen stereo and USB and auxiliary inputs, Bluetooth, garage door opener, cruise control, power releases for front cargo hold and rear engine cover, floor mats, partial leather-trimmed four-way electric front seats with integral headrests, split-folding rear seats, navigation, leather-trimmed steering wheel, shifter and door panelling, bi-Xenon headlights with automatic levelling, LED turn signals, daytime running lights and tail/brake lights, and driver and front passenger knee airbags.
Targa models come with standard all-wheel drive and add rear park assist, electric roof, and aluminum roll bar.
Carrera S models add 20-inch wheels, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and lowered ride height, torque vectoring with mechanically controlled differential, and six-piston brake calipers (upgraded from the base car's four-piston brakes).
GTS trim gets the Sport Chrono package as standard, as are 20-inch centre-lock wheels.
GT3 models get dynamic engine mounts, sport exhaust that boosts mid-range torque by 26 lb-ft, upgraded PDK transmission, active rear-wheel steering, and upgraded brakes.
Turbo models get bigger brakes, upgraded stereo, and steerable headlights.
Turbo S trim comes with ceramic composite brakes, and the dual-clutch transmission.
