Now in its third year, the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class receives equipment upgrades for 2008.
The CLS-Class is available in two models: the CLS550, with 5.5-litre V8 and seven-speed automatic transmission, and the CLS63 AMG, with 6.2-litre V8 and AMG with AMG Speedshift seven-speed automatic.
Features on the CLS550 include 18-inch wheels, Thermotronic automatic climate control, Airmatic suspension with active damping system, parameter steering, COMAND APS with navigation, Harman/Kardon LOGIC7 six-CD/MP3 stereo, SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Bluetooth hands-free telephone system, active bi-Xenon headlamps with washers and cornering lights, power-folding auto-dimming heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, rain-sensing wipers with heated washer system, ten-way power heated leather seats, high gloss Laurel wood trim, heated leather-wrapped multifunction wheel, power sunroof, power tilt and telescopic column, Parktronic parking assist, garage door opener, first-aid kit, TeleAid emergency calling, tire pressure warning system and cruise control.
The CLS63 AMG adds 19-inch wheels, multi-contour front seats, AMG Nappa leather upholstery, and Alcantara headliner.
Based on the E-Class sedan's architecture, the CLS is called a "four-door coupe" by the company; it's up to you to decide if such a configuration really exists, but there's no denying this car's exquisite styling. A centre console runs the length of the cabin, making it a four-seater. The car's low-swept roofline limits rear headspace, and tall passengers will have to bend to get into the sloping rear doors, but that's the price one pays for beauty.
