Issue: On certain vehicles, the lock that secures the backrest on the left-rear seat may be defective. As a result, cargo in the trunk could load the backrest in a crash and cause the lock to fail. If this happens, the seat backrest could tilt forward. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with rear seat backrests that can be unlocked electronically. Safety Risk: A backrest that tilts forward in a crash could increase the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the backrest lock on the left-rear seat. As a precautionary measure, you should avoid loading heavy items in the trunk until the recall repairs are completed.

Issue: On certain vehicles, a clip for the wiring harness for the automatic transmission may not be installed correctly. Over time, this could result in the wires to rub against the drive shaft and become damaged. This could cause a loss of engine power and/or an engine stall. Additionally, depending on which wire is damaged, the manual and automatic "P" (PARK) gear selection might not be available. If the parking brake is not used when parked, the vehicle could move suddenly. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, unintended vehicle movement could increase the risk of injury and/or a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to check the mounting of the clip and the wiring harness. They will be corrected or replaced as necessary.

Certain Roadster(convertible) models may have been built with incorrect software in the airbag control unit, and may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 - Occupant Protection in Frontal Impacts. In the event of a lower speed crash, this could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than necessary, which could increase the risk of injury for an out-of-position passenger. Correction: Dealers will update and correct the airbag control unit software.

On certain vehicles equipped with AMG Performance Seats, the front passenger seat occupant classification system might not function as intended, which could lead to the misclassification of the seat occupant. This could result in a child seat possibly being classified as a person, or a light/small statured person being possibly classified as a child seat, which could incorrectly activate or deactivate the passenger frontal airbag. Both cases could increase the risk of injury to the front passenger seat occupant in the event of a crash. Correction: Dealers will update the occupant classification system software, and if necessary, replace the passenger seat cushion.

On certain vehicles, the seatbelt may bind within the seatbelt guidance loop. If the seatbelt were to bind, a slack in the seatbelt may develop, which in the event of a crash, may not restrain the occupant as intended, and increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will remove the spacer disc in the seat belt guidance loop and add an additional sliding component to guide the belt.
