The Lexus GX SUV returns for 2016 with no changes, other than a newly available Technology package that bundles a number of active safety features along with a unique wheel design.

Despite the GX's notable off-road ability, this utility has a very smooth on-road ride, but a chassis biased toward ground clearance and traction means this is not the truck to buy if you want sharp handling.

Power comes from a 4.6L V8 engine that makes 301 hp and 329 lb-ft of torque, which is put to the GX's full-time 4WD system through a six-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel consumption ratings are 15.7/11.7 L/100 km (city/highway).

Standard features include intelligent keyless entry, power tilt-and-telescopic steering column, navigation, sunroof, three-zone automatic climate control, park assist, flip-open hatch glass, roof rails, running boards, heated and ventilated front seats with 10-way power adjustment, heated rear seats, power-folding third row seats, 17-speaker sound system with Bluetooth and USB input, backup camera, locking centre limited slip differential, LED headlights and taillights, rain-sensing wipers with de-icer, power-folding side mirrors, automatic high beams, and headlight washers.

The base price is $69,850, and reaches $77,900 with all options selected.
