The Nexo is Hyundai's second-generation effort at a production hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. Following on its Tucson-based predecessor, the Nexo compact crossover/wagon is a high-tech machine with useful driving range. Hyundai has taken a smart approach in packaging its hydrogen tech in a utility-ish body, but limited availability of fueling points means this is a forward-looking vehicle that has little real-world appeal.

Issue: 
On certain vehicles, the safety valve for the hydrogen fuel system may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the valve could fail and cause a hydrogen fuel leak. 

Safety Risk: 
A hydrogen fuel leak can create the risk of a fire, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off.  

Corrective Action: 
To reduce the safety risk, Hyundai advises that you should park your vehicle outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed. Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the safety valve.

Issue: 
On certain vehicles, the compliance label may be missing information in French. The words listed on the label for "Tires", "Rims", "Front" and "Rear" appear in English only, when they should be listed as "Tires/Pneus", "Rims/Jantes", "Front/Avant" and "Rear/Arriere". Canadian regulations require this information to be listed on the label in both English and French. 

Safety Risk: 
These small errors do not affect vehicle safety. 

Corrective Actions: 
This is not a recall. The company has corrected the compliance label for all new vehicles.

Issue: 
Over time, the sensors to detect a hydrogen gas leak may degrade (and not work properly). If this happens, and there is a hydrogen fuel leak, the driver warning light may not turn on. 

Safety Risk: 
An undetected hydrogen fuel leak can create the risk of a fire, even while the vehicle is parked. 

Corrective Action: 
Hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the hydrogen gas detection sensors. Hyundai recommends that you may continue driving your vehicle, but that you should park it outside and away from structures until the recall repairs are completed.

Issue: 
On certain vehicles, an abnormal sensor signal to the Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB) system could cause a sudden reduction in braking performance. If this happens, a brake warning light will turn on in the instrument cluster. 

Safety Risk: 
Reduced brake performance can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions: 
Hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the IEB system software.
