History/Overview
Introduced in 2021, the Genesis GV80 was the brand’s first-ever SUV model, and one of the first vehicles to wear the company’s distinctive new styling language. You can get this mid-size model with seating for five or seven.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
Last year’s entry-level Select trim is gone, making Advanced the base model for 2023.
Available Trims
Genesis offers the GV80 in Advanced and Prestige trim levels. Advanced starts with a 2.5L turbo four-cylinder engine, an eight-speed transmission, and AWD. All other trims get a 3.5L turbo V6.
Standard Features
2.5T Advanced trim comes with 20-inch wheels, LED headlights/taillights, rain-sensing wipers, heated steering wheel with electric adjustments, part-digital gauges, three-zone A/C, and a head-up display. Also included is a panoramic roof, passive keyless entry, hands-free tailgate, auto-dimming interior mirror, rear side sunshades, power/heated/ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, leather upholstery, a 14.5-inch touchscreen, 12-speaker audio, and wireless phone charging.
Standard safety kit includes forward collision mitigation, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot collision avoidance, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and surround view/blind spot cameras.
3.5T Advanced gets 22-inch wheels and electronically controlled suspension, but loses the 2.5T model’s surround view and blind spot camera systems.
3.5T Prestige models bring an electronic limited-slip differential, full digital gauges, rear collision mitigation, power door closers, power rear side sunshades, surround view/blind spot cameras, driver attention warning, active noise cancellation, remote park assist, Nappa leather, an upgraded driver’s seat, ventilated rear seats, and a 21-speaker stereo.
Fuel Economy
Genesis’s fuel consumption estimates are 11.3/9.5 L/100 km (city/highway) for four-cylinder models, and 12.9/10.4 L/100 km for V6-powered versions.
Competition
The GV80 goes toe-to-toe with the Mercedes-Benz GLS, Acura MDX, Audi Q7, Infiniti QX60, Cadillac XT6, Porsche Cayenne, Volvo XC90, Land Rover Velar, Lexus RX, BMW X5, Buick Enclave, and Lincoln Aviator.
