Brand-new to the Focus lineup this year is the RS, a high-performance AWD hatchback that Ford says is the most powerful Focus ever, with its turbocharged 2.3L four-cylinder engine, whose power figures are estimated at 350 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque.
With that excitement out of the way, the rest of the news is a little more sedate. The rest of the range gets Ford's SYNC 3, the third generation infotainment system, and the 1.0L three-cylinder turbo engine can now be optioned with an automatic transmission.
Engine choices include that 1.0L, which makes 123 hp and 125 lb-ft of torque; it's an option in SE trim. S, SE and Titanium trims come standard with a 2.0L four-cylinder that makes 160 hp and 146 lb-ft. The 2.0L comes with a five-speed manual, and the 1.0L with a six-speed stick; both can be optioned to a six-speed automatic.
ST trim uses a 2.0L turbocharged engine that makes 252 hp and 270 lb-ft, and the RS gets the aforementioned 2.3L turbo motor; both of these cars get a six-speed manual and no automatic option.
Finally, there's the Focus Electric, which uses an electric motor that makes 143 hp and 184 lb-ft.
Fuel consumption estimates are 7.8/5.7 L/100 km (city/highway) with the 1.0L and six-speed manual, and 8.5/5.9 with the optional automatic. The 2.0L is rated at 9.2/6.6 with its five-speed stick, and 8.9/6.0 with the automatic. The ST's ratings are 10.5/7.7, and the RS' are 12.1/9.3.
Standard feature highlights in the S trim include 15-inch steel wheels with covers, SYNC, a four-speaker sound system with auxiliary input, and torque vectoring control.
The SE adds 16-inch aluminum wheels, six-speaker stereo, and cruise control.
Titanium models get 17-inch wheels, MyKey owner controls, intelligent keyless entry with push-button start, tire pressure monitoring, and capless fuel filler.
The Focus Electric gains hill start assist, integrated blind spot mirrors, and regenerative braking.
ST models get active grille shutters, Recaro sport seats, unique styling cues, and a sport-tuned suspension.
Finally, the RS has a sunroof, 10-speaker stereo, black leather upholstery with heated front seats, driver-selectable suspension, upgraded brakes and RS badging and trim-specific body kit.
MSRPs range from $17,199 to $47,969.
