NEW FOR 2013:
- Driver knee airbag added.
- Auto-dimming rearview mirror, rain-sensing windshield wipers, universal garage door opener deleted.
- Paint changes: Ice Storm Metallic Clearcoat added; Frost Glass Metallic Clearcoat discontinued.
A year after being introduced, the Ford Focus Electric gets some small changes, which are mostly deletions. Auto-dimming rearview mirror, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and universal garage door opener have all been removed. However, a new driver's knee airbag has been added.
The Focus Electric can be charged in three to four hours with a wall-mounted 240-volt charger and uses a special version of MyFord Touch driver connect technology, along with a Smartphone application called MyFord Mobile, to monitor key vehicle functions and charge settings.
The Focus Electric uses a 143-horsepower/107 kW engine mated to a single-speed transmission and has a top speed of 136 km/h. It uses a lithium-ion battery that is liquid-heated or cooled for optimized operation.
Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, pushbutton start, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, CD/MP3 Sony Audio stereo, Sirius satellite radio, navigation system, 120-volt convenience charging cord, and seven airbags.
