History/Overview
Big sedans are nearly extinct, but the Chrysler 300 soldiers on for at least one more year. The current, second-generation model was introduced in 2011 but the nameplate debuted in 2005.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
This year, the base Touring trim can now be optioned with the SafetyTec driver assist group, which was previously limited to the car’s upper trims.
Available Trims
Chrysler offers the 300 in Touring, Touring L, and S trim levels. Touring and Touring L use a 3.6L V6 engine and S upgrades to a 5.7L V8. An eight-speed transmission is included with both, and AWD is an option.
Standard Features
The 300 Touring comes with 17-inch wheels, heated side mirrors, auto on/off headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and passive keyless entry. Inside, there’s dual-zone A/C, a power driver’s seat, a six-speaker stereo, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and navigation.
Touring L gains 20-inch wheels, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, driver’s side auto-dimming mirror, LED fog lights, a power passenger seat, heated front seats, Nappa leather upholstery, and front and rear park assist.
300 S models get a sunroof and nine-speaker audio.
Key Options
A SafetyTec Plus group adds lane departure warning, lane keep assist, front/rear park assist, automatic high beams, forward collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, and an auto-dimming driver’s side mirror.
A comfort group for Touring L and S adds ventilated seats, HID headlights, LED interior lighting, heated rear seats/steering wheel, a rear power sunshade, and power steering wheel adjustments.
In Touring L, a popular equipment pack brings a dual-pane sunroof and nine-speaker audio.
There’s also a sport appearance pack for Touring, and an S appearance group specific to S trim.
Fuel Economy
Chrysler’s fuel consumption estimates are 12.4/7.8 L/100 km (city/highway) for V6/RWD models, and 12.8/8.7 L/100 km with AWD. V8-powered models are rated for 14.7/9.4 L/100 km with RWD, and 15.9/9.6 L/100 km for AWD models.
Competition
One of the 300’s competitors is the closely related, but lower-price, Dodge Charger. There’s also the Kia Stinger.
