History/Overview

The Chrysler 300 is one of the last examples of the near-luxury sedan, a car class that slots between family sedans and upscale mid- and full-size four-doors. Chrysler redesigned this car into a second generation in 2011, but has only given it mild updates since then.

What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year

This year, the Chrysler 300 gains some standard features, which we’ve listed below.

Available Trims

Chrysler offers the 300 in Touring, Touring L, and S trim levels, all of which are available with either rear- or all-wheel drive. All three trims come standard with a 3.6L V6 engine and an eight-speed transmission. A 5.7L V8 is optional in 300S.

Standard Features

New standard features in the Chrysler 300 Touring are an 8.4-inch touchscreen, navigation, and an air filtration system.

Carried forward from last year’s Touring model are a six-speaker stereo, dual-zone A/C, leather-trimmed steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, power driver’s seat, rain-sensing wipers, and navigation.

Touring L trim’s new items are 20-inch black wheels, and a sport appearance package. This package also comes with front and rear park assist, LED fog lights, a power front passenger seat, Nappa leather seating, blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and heated front seats.

Chrysler 300S’s new features are a nine-speaker stereo, dual-pane sunroof, premium fog lights, and body-colour front, rear, and side body add-ons.

Key Options

A SafetyTec option package brings adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, automatic high beams, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist.

A comfort group adds adaptive auto-levelling headlights, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, a power rear sunshade, a power-adjustable steering column, and heated rear seats.

A popular equipment package bundles a dual-pane sunroof, nine-speaker surround-sound audio, and a subwoofer.

Fuel Economy

Chrysler fuel consumption estimates for the 300 are 12.4/7.8 L/100 km with the V6 engine and RWD and 12.8/8.7 L/100 km with AWD. V8-powered cars are rated for 14.7/9.4 L/100 km.

Competition

The days of the full-size sedan are numbered outside of the full-on luxury category. The only other near-luxury sedan left in the marketplace is the Kia Stinger, but you could also shop the Chrysler 300 as an alternative to mid-stream family sedans.
