History / Overview
The Chrysler 300 is a full-size upscale sedan introduced in 2005 on a then-new rear-wheel drive platform. A second-generation model arrived in 2011, riding on an updated version of the same underpinnings.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
New for 2020 is a Red S appearance package for the 300S trim, which can be further optioned with a red interior. There are also new paint colours.
Available Trims
Chrysler offers the 300 in Touring, S, Limited and C trims. Most trims are standard with a 3.6L V6 engine. A 5.7L V8 is an option in the 300S, and standard in the 300C. Touring, S, and Limited are optional with AWD, but the 300C is exclusively rear-wheel drive. Both engines are standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Standard Features
The Chrysler 300 Touring comes with auto on/off headlights, 17-inch aluminum wheels, two USB charging ports, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, a 12-way power driver's seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated side mirrors, a 7.0-inch digital gauge cluster display, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, acoustic front glass, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, power windows, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, an 8.4-inch infotainment screen, a six-speaker stereo, tire pressure monitoring, and passive keyless entry.
300S adds a sport drive mode, 20-inch wheels, LED fog lights, heated front seats, black taillight trim, lighted cupholders, paddle shifters, an upgraded stereo, a 12-way front passenger seat, an integrated garage door opener, and remote engine start.
Limited gains side mirrors that tilt down in reverse, Nappa leather upholstery, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a trunk mat, driver's seat memory, a heated steering wheel with wood trim, front footwell lighting, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and electric steering column adjustments.
Finally, 300C trim adds chrome headlight surrounds, auto-levelling adaptive bi-xenon headlights, platinum grille trim, an upgraded steering wheel, and heated and cooled front cupholders.
Key Options
A SafetyTec 1 option package bundles blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and front and rear park assist. The SafetyTec 2 group brings adaptive cruise control, advanced brake assist, automatic high beams, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and rain-sensing wipers.
Other desirable extras are navigation, a dual-pane sunroof, and wireless smartphone charging.
Fuel Economy
Chrysler's fuel consumption estimates for the 300 are 12.4/7.8 L/100 km (city/highway) with the V6 engine and RWD; 12.8/8.7 L/100 km with AWD; and 14.7/9.4 L/100 km (city/highway) with the V8 and RWD.
Competition
The Chrysler 300's competition includes the Chevrolet Impala, the Ford Taurus, and Kia's Stinger; the Dodge Charger is mechanically identical, but attracts buyers both more budget-oriented and seeking more performance.
