Trailblazer is a well-known name for a relatively new addition to the Chevrolet lineup. Today’s Trailblazer is a subcompact crossover introduced in 2021 to compete in a fast-growing segment that has become popular with shoppers at the entry-level end of the auto industry.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
There are no changes to the Trailblazer for the 2023 model year.
Chevrolet offers the Trailblazer in LS, LT, Activ, and RS trim levels. LS and LT start with front-wheel drive, a 1.2L turbo three-cylinder engine, and a continuously variable transmission. Optional in LS and LT and standard in the other trims is a 1.3L engine that comes with a nine-speed transmission and AWD.
LS trim’s key features include 17-inch alloy wheels, six-speaker audio, a 7.0-inch touchscreen, and A/C.
Also included in LS and other trims is the Chevrolet Safety Assist package of forward collision mitigation, pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams.
LT adds LED fog lights, heated side mirrors, a power driver’s seat, cruise control, heated front seats, and passive keyless entry.
Activ models get sport terrain tires, LED taillights, an upgraded sound system with amplifier, active noise cancellation, a heated steering wheel, leather steering wheel and shifter trim, and leatherette upholstery.
Finally, RS models gain 18-inch wheels and cloth/leatherette seating.
A True North package adds a panoramic roof, rear centre armrest, and adaptive cruise. A sun and liftgate pack also adds a panoramic sunroof and a hands-free tailgate.
The convenience package brings automatic A/C, an auto-dimming mirror, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, rear-seat USB charging ports, and a 120-volt power outlet.
The driver confidence pack adds rear park assist, blind spot monitoring with lane change alert, and rear cross-traffic alert.
In Activ and RS trims, a tech package contains satellite radio, the 8.0-inch display, wireless phone charging, adaptive cruise, LED headlights, and a Bose stereo.
Chevrolet’s fuel consumption estimates for the Trailblazer are 8.1/7.2 L/100 km (city/highway) with the 1.3L engine and FWD, and 8.0/7.6 with the 1.2L. The 1.3L/AWD combo is rated for 8.9/7.8 L/100 km.
The Trailblazer competes in the popular subcompact crossover category, where it faces the Honda HR-V, Ford Ecosport, Toyota Corolla Cross, Nissan Qashqai, Hyundai Kona, Subaru Crosstrek, Kia Seltos, Jeep Renegade, Mazda CX-30, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, and Fiat 500X.
