Chevrolet's performance flagship, rechristened Corvette Stingray in 2014, gets a number of trim updates for 2016, most of which are optional appearance/style packages.
The high-performance Z06 variant gets a few goodies for 2016, too. There's a C7.R edition, limited to 500 examples in North America, that gets the Z07 performance package, including carbon ceramic brakes and a specially serialized vehicle identification number.
The base car gets a standard flat-bottom steering wheel, and both base and Z06 models get a new power-closing hatch (coupe) or trunk (convertible) and front curb-view parking camera in 2LZ and 3LZ trims.
Mechanically, the Corvette remains the same, with base cars powered by a 6.2L V8 that makes 455 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque (460 hp/465 lb-ft with an optional performance exhaust) and comes mated to either a seven-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.
The Z06 gets a supercharged version of that motor making 650 hp and 650 lb-ft, available with the same transmission choices.
Not that many Corvette buyers worry about fuel consumption, but the Stingray's official estimates are 13.7/8.2 L/100 km (city/highway) with the manual transmission, and 14.6/8.1 with the automatic. The Z06's ratings are 15.5/10.3 L/100 km with the seven-speed, and 17.7/10.2 with the automatic.
All Corvette models get capless fuel filling, a one-piece carbon-fibre removable roof panel (coupe models only), heated side mirrors, 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels, power tilt-and-telescopic steering, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, carpeted floor mats, keyless entry with push-button start, frameless rearview mirror, eight-way power adjustable seats, and a nine-speaker stereo with Bluetooth and MyLink infotainment system.
Notable options include a transparent roof panel, the curb view parking system, auto-dimming rearview and driver's side mirrors, driver's seat memory, heated and ventilated seats, 10-speaker sound system, and navigation.
Prices start at $64,495, and rise to $92,845 for the Z06 model.
