NEW FOR 2012:
- New headlight and taillight design
- 128i models receive new front bumper design
- Optional M Sport Package replaces Sport Package
For 2012, the BMW 1 Series undergoes minor changes. All models receive new headlights with LED backlit brows and taillights with integrated LED bars. The 128i models have a new bumper that reduces turbulence and aerodynamic drag for improved fuel efficiency. The new M Sport Package adds 17-inch M-style wheels, high-gloss shadowline, anthracite roof liner, and M-specific sport seats, sport suspension, leather-wrapped steering wheel and aerodynamics package.
The 128i and 135i are available in coupe or cabriolet (convertible) configuration. Both use a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine, which is naturally-aspirated in the 128i and turbocharged in the 135i. Both engines use a six-speed manual transmission that can be optioned to a six-speed automatic in the 128i and a seven-speed double-clutch transmission in the 135i.
Features on the 128i Coupe include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, speed-sensitive power steering, automatic bi-xenon headlamps, adaptive brake lights, fog lights, heated mirrors, heated washer nozzles, rain-sensing wipers, tire pressure warning system, self-charging keyless remote, cruise control, leather-wrapped multifunction tilt and telescopic steering wheel, 60/40 split-folding rear seat with pass-through, power windows, ?leatherette? six-way manually adjustable heated seats, Bluetooth connectivity, USB port, BMW Assist and CD/MP3 stereo.
The 128i Cabriolet adds driver and front passenger knee airbags, rollover protection, and fully automatic soft top. Its rear seat is fixed and includes a pass-through and transport bag.
The 135i models add 18-inch alloy wheels, sport suspension, performance brakes, adaptive headlights, xenon headlamps with washers, and M aerodynamic body kit.
