History/Overview

The RS Q8 is Audi’s flagship SUV but turned up to max power thanks to a big turbocharged V8, massive wheels and tires, and loads of cosmetic and handling upgrades. Don't be confused by the number that's one more than the Q7, this one is smaller but pricier. It's also faster.

Audi hasn't made any changes to the RS Q8 for 2021, not surprising since it's already a fresh vehicle.

Available Trims

Just one trim level is offered, it comes with a 4.0L twin-turbo V8, an eight-speed automatic and quattro all-wheel drive.

Standard Features

With just one level available, the RS Q8 comes loaded with luxury amenities like welcome light animations, natural voice controls, panoramic roof, blackout shades for the rear doors, power door closers, and ambient lighting. The cockpit gets a special version of the Audi virtual cockpit for RS models, the leather-wrapped wheel has a flat bottom (and power tilt/telescope), and the Valcona leather diamond-stitch seats offer extensive power adjustment, heating, and ventilation.

Four wheel steering, LED Matrix headlights, and RS-tuned adaptive air suspension add to the vehicle's capabilities while Audi side assist, exit assist, rear cross traffic alert, pre sense front and rear, active cruise, head up display, lane departure warnings, and 360-camera all contribute to making he driving experience as unstressful as possible.

Key Options

A dynamic package adds a sport rear differential, electronic roll stabilisation, and requires carbon ceramic brakes. Driver Assistance adds intersection assist, turn assist, active cruise assist, and traffic sign recognition. Black and carbon trim packages are also available.

On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. 

Safety Risk: 
A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. 

Corrective Actions: 
Audi will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the rearview camera software.

On certain vehicles, the rear wheel alignment was not checked during recall 42L1 (Transport Canada Recall 2021-249). As a result, the steering could pull to one side or another and the tires could wear unevenly. If you continue to drive the vehicle in this condition, there may be reduced traction. Eventually, a tire could fail and lose air pressure. 

Safety Risk: 
A tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. 

Corrective Actions: 
Audi will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect and adjust the rear wheel alignment, as necessary. Additionally, the dealer will inspect the rear tires for premature and uneven wear due to this issue, and replace them if necessary.

On certain vehicles, the passenger seat belt assemblies may contain defective automatic locking retractors (ALR). As a result, the seat belts may not properly lock to secure a child seat.

Corrective Actions: 
Audi will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the seat belts. They will be replaced, if necessary.
