History/Overview
This will be the final year for the Audi R8 as we know it as the company prepares to discontinue the car’s ripping V10 engine. What’s not clear is whether this exotic coupe will return with a new powerplant.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
The only changes to the R8 for 2023 are in details like new wheels and a standard sport exhaust for RWD models, and standard magnetic ride control for AWD variants.
Available Trims
Audi makes the R8 coupe in rear- and all-wheel drive variants; both are powered by a 5.2L V10 and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, but AWD models get 602 hp to the RWD model’s 562.
Standard Features
The R8 RWD comes with 20-inch wheels, auto-dimming/power-folding side mirrors, LED headlights, passive keyless entry, an electric rear spoiler, and sport suspension. Inside, there are heated/power-adjustable seats, Nappa leather upholstery, two-zone A/C, an integrated garage remote, navigation, wireless phone charging, digital gauges, and a B&O stereo. Safety kit is limited to automatic high beams, and front and rear parking sensors.
All-wheel drive models add a magnetic ride control suspension, ceramic brakes, diamond-stitch seats, and laser headlights.
Key Options
You can add diamond-stitched seats to the base RWD model; other stand-alone options include red brake calipers, and a larger fuel tank.
Fuel Economy
Audi’s fuel consumption estimates are 16.6/10.2 L/100 km (city/highway) for the R8 RWD, and 17.7/12.8 L/100 km for AWD models.
Competition
If you’ve got the cash to put an Audi R8 in your garage, you might also want to consider cars like the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Porsche 911 Turbo, and various Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Aston Martin models.
