Toyota is now offering 13 different models and trims of the RAV4, offering nearly as many configurations as we've come to expect from full-size pickups. For this year the biggest change is the Toyota RAV4 Prime, aside from that, the most notable changes are in the price. The RAV4 starts from $28,250 this year, just $160 more than last year.
Starting off the RAV4 lineup are the gas-only versions, powered by a 203 hp 2.5L four cylinder mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The LE offers front wheel-drive or all wheel-drive (as does XLE), and comes with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 active driver aids as standard. The AWD LE, and all XLE trims add stop-start capability. XLE also adds alloy wheels, power moonroof and rear door, and push-button start with a heated leather wheel.
XLE Premium bumps that to an upgraded audio system, Softex faux-leather seats, and 19-inch alloys. Trail is the off-road light model with 19-inch wheels, roof rails, torque vectoring, and a raised tow capacity as well as heated and ventilated front seats. TRD Off Road gets 18-inch all-terrain tires and JBL audio as well as navigation and TRD badges, based on the Trail model.
The top-spec Limited adds JBL audio to the XLE, along with navigation. LED fog lights, heated and ventilated Softex front seats, kick-sensor tailgate, and wireless charging are added as are surround-view camera, parking sonar, and rear cross-traffic braking.
Hybrid models offer 219 hp and a 6 L/100 km combined rating. LE, XLE, and Limited models are offered, as are XSE and XSE Technology. The former comes with black alloys and black exterior styling cues and the latter adds JBL audio, 8.0-inch touchscreen, and 7.0-inch driver info display as well as the Limited's extra safety kit.
Finally, though already announced, the RAV4 Prime and its 300 hp and 67 km of electric range will come in SE, XSE, and Technology, starting at $44,990 before incentives. The new RAV4 and Hybrid are on sale now across Canada.
