After Scary Dashcam Video, Police Seek Out, Find Drivers Involved

Yesterday, Ontario Provincial Police posted a scary dashcam video of a large truck pushing a Honda Civic sideways down Highway 401, seemingly unaware that the car was there. Police were looking for the drivers involved. And it looks like they've found them.

The video was originally posted to Twitter on January 13. It shows what looks like a gravel truck or highway maintenance vehicle that had a Honda Civic harpooned across the driver's door. In the video, the truck proceeds down Highway 401 Westbound, near Leslie St. in North York, for several seconds while moving toward the shoulder, though it's unclear for how long the car had been wedged against the truck's front bumper.

In the clip, the Civic catches the guardrail at the shoulder and is sandwiched between the truck and a concrete barrier. It's also not clear if the truck stopped after the collision.

Sgt Kerry Schmidt of the OPP retweeted the clip asking for information about the drivers involved.

Overnight, the OPP received tips that lead them to both drivers, and both have been interviewed. The truck driver, Schmidt said, claims to have been unaware of the car across his front bumper. At least initially.

Schmidt said that no one was injured in the collision, and that no charges have been laid but the investigation is ongoing. Schmidt also encouraged anyone with dashcam footage of incidents like this to bring them forward to police to help investigate collisions and criminal activity.
