Lincoln Adds Phone as Key, Monochromatic Trim, More Safety to 2020 Navigator

Not much more than a year old, the Lincoln Navigator is getting some updates, including a new "phone as a key" app, new running boards, and a series of monochromatic trim packages.

Lincoln says that the new Navigator has been a success – with more than 60 percent of sales being conquests from other brands, and, maybe more importantly, more than nine in 10 buyers picking the top Reserve trim.

So now on that trim, Lincoln is adding some new touches for 2020. There are three new Monochromatic Packages that will come on the 2020 Navigator Reserve: Pristine White, Ceramic Pearl, and Infinite Black. Each will use their colour throughout the exterior, replacing some of the previously grey trim, and some of the chrome, with body colour pieces.

“The monochromatic palette emphasizes the strong lines of the Navigator,” says Earl Lucas, Lincoln chief designer. “It’s a perfect colour scheme for a full-size luxury SUV, and it offers clients another way to personalize their new Navigator.”

There's also new tech for the 2020 Navigator. First up is a new "phone as a key" tech. It will first arrive on the Aviator this summer, then as standard equipment on the 2020 Navigator. Using the Lincoln Way app, users will be able to lock and unlock the doors, open the tailgate, and even start and drive their Navigator without using a key fob.

Power running boards will also be fitted to the Navigator as standard, along with heated and ventilated front seats, and wireless charging.

Lincoln will also be adding the Co-Pilot 360 safety suite to the vehicle. That comes with auto high-beams, blind spot detection with cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alert, lane-keeping assist, dynamic brake support, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and a washer for the rear camera.

The 2020 Lincoln Navigator will arrive at dealers this November, with pricing to follow.
