Nissan Shows Refreshed 2019 Maxima in LA

Nissan took the covers off two refreshed flagship models in Los Angeles. On the sedan side, an updated 2019 Nissan Maxima features some light appearance updates along with some far more significant additional safety features.

Key among these is the availability of Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 suite of safety technologies, which is offered on Maxima for the first time and includes emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, and rear emergency braking.

In addition, the driver alertness system will be standard on the 2019 Maxima, and active cruise control, high-beam assist, and traffic sign recognition will be available on more grades.

The front grille has been updated to give the chrome V accent a deeper angle to go with redesigned standard LED headlamps and daytime running lights. On the back, integrated quad-tip exhaust finishers are added, and the SR grade gets a new rear spoiler. All grades now come with new wheel designs, and interior materials have been upgraded on the instrument panel, door panels, steering wheel insert, stitching, seat materials, headliner, pillars and A-pillar speaker grilles to varying degrees depending on the trim level. The sport-oriented SR grade also gets new orange accent stitching, quilting, orange-accented Alcantara, and dark satin chrome finishers.

The same four grade levels will be offered in Canada, though details of exactly which features will land where won’t be announced until closer to launch. A new Platinum Reserve Package is offered for the first time and integrates 19-inch silver alloy wheels, satin bronze faceted interior finishers, tan diamond-quilted semi-aniline leather appointments and steering wheel insert, and heated rear seats.

The 2019 Maxima will go on sale in Canada in January.
