Full-Size Lego Porsche GT3 RS on Display in Stockholm

Lego-sized sports cars are great. If you can't afford the likes of a Porsche 918, a Ferrari 458, or a McLaren P1, Lego makes a miniature version that you can build yourself. It even looks better on your desk than the real thing. The newest kit, a 1:8 scale Porsche 911 GT3 RS went on sale June 1st, and it looks like somebody liked it so much that they scaled it back up and made a full-size version of the Lego model.

On display at the Mall of Scandinavia in Stockholm, Sweden, it's not clear if this is an official Lego effort, or the work of an enthusiast, but the timing and the fact that there's a Lego store in the mall points to it being official.

The detail of this replica is impressive. The aero is well-represented, the interior looks right, and even the wheels are right. Okay, fair enough, it's far from a photo-realistic representation of a 911. But it's as close as you can get to the real thing and have it be built from Lego. The whole thing looks to be made from the interlocking bricks. In fact, if I had kids and a real GT3, this could make a pretty fun playset for them or – who am I kidding – for me.
