Redesigned 2021 Buick Envision Priced To Start At $37,598

Envisioning the future

Buick today revealed more details of its forthcoming second-generation Envision compact luxury crossover, which is arriving in dealerships now with a starting price of $37,598.

The General Motors upscale division says the Envision’s new design will place it “at the heart of one of the largest and fastest-growing segments.” Buick hopes to further solidify the Envision’s position in the luxury SUV market by offering it in an upscale Avenir trim level for the first time.

The Envision has faced an uphill battle drawing customers away from brands like BMW, Audi, Acura, and Lexus. The new look should help it stand out better in such company. However, it may suffer for its lack of an uplevel engine option. Buick says the Envision’s starting price includes a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine (228 hp/258 lb-ft of torque), a nine-speed transmission, and an available twin-clutch AWD system.

The transmission swaps out a traditional shift lever for push-button controls the company says frees up storage space in the console. On the outside, all Envision models get LED headlights, taillights and signature lighting, and welcome/walkaway animations activated by the key fob.

Also standard is a full suite of driver assists: forward collision warning with automatic braking; rear park assist; following-distance indicator; blind-spot monitor with lane change alert; lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The 2021 Envision will introduce Buick’s new infotainment system, including an available 10.0-inch touchscreen, that supports Amazon Alexa, Spotify, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless smartphone charging is also on the options list.

Buick is offering the new Envision in its familiar Preferred and Essence trim levels, plus the new Avenir package, which comes standard with heated/ventilated front seats, quilted leather upholstery, driver’s seat massage, heated rear seats, navigation, and wireless charging.

Essence trim comes in at $39,398 with standard AWD, and the Avenir package goes for $44,398.
