Pricing Announced for 2022 Volkswagen Taos Arriving in July

VW's new smallest crossover

Volkswagen's smallest crossover is nearly here. The 2022 Volkswagen Taos is set to arrive in Canada in July with a starting price of $26,695 and a 1.5L turbocharged engine with front or all-wheel drive.

The Taos, which will sit below the Tiguan in the VW lineup (and largely replace the Golf), is 4,466 mm long, or 236 mm shorter than a Tiguan. It's also about 200 mm longer than a Golf. Thanks to short overhangs, the 2,689 mm wheelbase is just 101 mm shorter than the Tiguan's, which VW says will allow plenty of room for passengers. It has just 45 L less passenger space than its larger sibling. Total cargo space is 790 L behind the rear seats or 1,866 L with them folded.

Three trims of the Taos will be offered, starting with the $26,695 front-wheel drive Trendline. That model gets 17-inch alloy wheels, full LED exterior lighting, push-button start, and a 6.5-inch touchscreen as well as Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Heated front seats and Volkswagen's digital gauge cluster are also standard.

The Comfortline trim adds standard AWD as well as front automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, an 8.0-inch infotainment screen with wireless App-Connect, three USB-C ports, two-tone leather seating, and proximity key entry. The Highline trim adds 18-inch wheels, dynamic signature LED lighting, an illuminated grille with accent signature borrowed from the larger Atlas, heated and ventilated front sports seats, navigation, BeatsAudio sound system, heated steering wheel, lane assist, adaptive cruise, and more.

All models get a 1.5L turbo four-cylinder with 158 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Front-drive models get an eight-speed auto while the rest have a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
