Nissan has outlined its plan to release 10 new and refreshed vehicles in North America over the course of the next three years. Among these vehicles there will be electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles that are sold under both the Nissan and Infiniti badges.
The first vehicle revealed under this new product offensive will be the new, third-generation Leaf. Now a crossover, the electric vehicle (EV) will share a platform with the Ariya. Nissan says that it will benefit from significant aerodynamic improvements, and will be available with 19-inch wheels and a panoramic moonroof for the first time ever. It will also be the first model offered by the automaker to feature a Tesla-style charging plug.
In addition, Nissan plans to reveal its first-ever plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) this year, and it will be a variant of the Rogue compact crossover. Continuing on the compact trend, a new generation of the Sentra will also be revealed alongside a refreshed version of the Pathfinder, all during financial year 2025.
Customers looking for a more premium experience will get a refreshed version of the three-row Infiniti QX60 later this year. The automaker will also unveil a Sport package for the even larger QX80 SUV.
In financial year 2026, the fourth-generation Nissan Rogue will go into production, and will be the first model to offer the automaker’s e-Power technology to Canadians. The powertrain pairs electric motors with a small internal combustion engine whose only purpose is to serve as a generator to charge the battery. In addition, the fourth-gen Rogue will also be available with a more traditional gas engine or a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Meanwhile, Infiniti will launch the QX65, fastback version of the QX60 that trades a row of seats for sportier design.
Finally, in financial year 2027, an adventure focused electric SUV will go into production at Nissan’s Canton, Mississippi, plant. As yet unnamed, the new vehicle will share a platform with an Infiniti SUV inspired by the Vision QXe concept that focuses more on luxury than adventure.
While these models will no doubt be welcome additions to Nissan and Infiniti’s lineups, they come at a time when the automaker’s future has never been more uncertain. The Japanese automaker’s financial health is in such dire straits that it has sought help from outside investors, and even considered merging with Honda, though that deal was scuppered after Honda got a look at Nissan’s books. With this product plan, Nissan will hope to allay concerns about it going and convince the world that it remains a going concern.
