2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S Gets 30 Extra Horses, Sharpened Driving Dynamics

While the newly-introduced hybrid version of the Porsche 911 will no doubt be a controversial vehicle among the brand’s most avid fans, they can thank it for something uncontroversial. More power down the line.

In order to better fill the gap between the 911 Carrera and the 911 Carrera GTS T-Hybrid, the 911 Carrera S now makes an impressive 473 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. That’s 30 more horses than it made last year, and helps it fill the shoes left empty the outgoing (non-hybrid) 911 Carrera GTS.

The extra power comes thanks to new turbochargers that feature technology introduced on the previous generation 911 Turbo. These improve charge-air cooling and allow the 911 Carrera S to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds and to keep accelerating all the way up to a top speed of 308 km/h. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

In addition to more grunt, Porsche has also worked to make the car more precise, too. The Carrera S comes standard with standard Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, which isn’t even available as an option on the standard 911 Carrera. The automaker has also improved damper hydraulics to increase handling performance, and equipped the Carrera S with the 911 GTS’s brake system. That means 408 mm brake discs up front, 380 mm discs in the back, and calipers that are painted red as standard. The car also comes with staggered wheels that are 20 inches in the front and 21 inches in the rear.

For those who want a little more performance, Porsche also offers ceramic composite brake discs and the PASM sport suspension, which lowers the Carrera S’s ride height by 10 mm and adds rear-axle steering for improved agility through the corners and better stability on the straights.

Inside, the model comes standard with leather upholstery on the front seats. The rear seats are a no-cost option in the coupe version of the 911 Carrera S, but they are also covered in leather if selected. Buyers can opt for an extended leather package that covers more of the interior in hide, and they can get Chalk coloured contrast stitching, too. As with other 911s that have been updated (the generation code is now known as the 911 992.2), the Carrera S gets a standard wireless smartphone charger, Matrix LED lights, among other minor improvements.

The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S is now available to order, and prices start at $159,700 for the coupe, while the Cabriolet starts at $174,000 before taxes and fees.
