Genesis is making a handful of minor tweaks to its best-selling crossover to go with one big change inside.
The 2026 Genesis GV70 looks a little more like its sedan sibling than before, but the bigger story is the massive digital display that adorns the dash. That’s joined by a bigger battery pack and a Tesla-style charging port in the case of the fuel-free Electrified GV70.
Mostly the Same Outside
While this counts as a mid-cycle refresh, even a keenly trained pair of eyes could be excused for overlooking the exterior changes that have been made to the 2026 GV70. The so-called “dual-weave mesh” grille finish shared with the larger GV80 is the most notable update outside.
That’s framed by the brand’s two-line lighting signature, with updated split headlights to match what’s found around back. On that note, Genesis has wisely relocated the signal lights from low on the bumper, where they can be difficult to see, to the tail lights themselves.
The Sport trim skips the dual-weave grille for a look that’s more like a mesh within a mesh. It’s shared with the new sportback version of the GV80. That’s joined by reshaped lower intakes and a new wheel design, as well as square exhaust outlets integrated into the rear bumper in place of the round ones from before.
Eye-Catching Screen
While the overall shape of the dashboard is mostly the same as it was, the instrument display hood has been shelved to make way for a huge 27-inch screen that combines driver information and infotainment within a single unit. The display is split down the middle, with the right side working as a touchscreen.
Unlike the 14.5-inch screen from before, the new unit sits low on the dash to put it within reach of the driver and front-seat passenger. However, the console-mounted controller carries over, too. The infotainment and climate controls have also been reconfigured.
Electrified GV70
The Electrified GV70 gets a couple more key improvements, including a slightly bigger battery pack. The capacity is up nearly 10 per cent to 84 kWh, which should provide something closer to 400 km of range. The current version is rated for 383 km on a full charge.
The charge port has also been replaced to accept the North American Charging Standard (NACS) plug developed by Tesla, making this the first of the brand’s electric vehicles (EVs) to use it. According to Genesis, a Combined Charging System (CCS) adapter will be included for access to other charging stations.
Final Thoughts
Additional tweaks include updates to the lane-following and remote parking systems, as well as new electronic damping control aimed at reducing body motion when accelerating and braking, among others. With the 2025 model already on sale, expect the 2026 Genesis GV70 to hit the market in the first half of next year.
