2025 Volkswagen Taos Canadian Pricing Announced

The last couple years have been an unending slog of inflationary price hikes, but the 2025 Volkswagen Taos is bucking the trend. Although the base model Trendline costs a few dollars more than the same trim last year, higher up in the range, prices have come down, despite the fact that the crossover was actually improved for the 2025 model year.

Those improvements included replacing the jerky dual-clutch transmission in all-wheel-drive models with a smoother eight-speed automatic, tuning the engine to make 18 extra horses (for a total of 174 hp), and updating the front-end to give it a snazzier grille and an LED light strip across the front of the vehicle.

The entry-level 2025 Taos Trendline now starts at $29,795, less than $700 more than the same trim level last year. For that, buyers are offered front-wheel drive, 17-inch aluminum wheels, heated (but manually adjusting) seats, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an eight-inch infotainment system, forward collision warning, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, and more.

For buyers who want a more sure-footed crossover, the Trendline 4Motion costs $31,795 (just $30 more than it did last year) and gets 18-inch aluminum wheels. The Taos Trendline will be available in Deep Black Pearl, Pure White, Pyrite Silver, and Platinum Grey. All examples will be equipped with dark blue cloth upholstery.

This pricing announcement reveals that Volkswagen has made one more change to the Taos, and dropped every FWD example of the crossover apart from the base model Trendline. That means that the Comfortline model now starts $35,295, which is about $2,100 more than it did last year. However, that was a FWD model, which is no longer available. The 2025 Taos Comfortline now actually starts at around $500 less than the 2024 Comfortline 4Motion AWD. For 2025, the trim comes with 18-inch wheels aluminum-alloy wheels, silver roof rails, privacy glass, chrome window trim, a 10.25-inch instrument screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an eight-way adjustable power driver’s seat. It will be available in Deep Black Pearl, Pure White, Pyrite Silver, Platinum Grey, Monterey Blue Pearl, Cornflower Blue, Serrano Green and Alpine Grey. For an extra $1,200, buyers can get a panoramic glass roof.

Next in the lineup is the Comfortline Black Edition, whose price is also going down for 2025. Its MSRP is $36,995, which is $136 less than the same trim’s MSRP last year. It comes with 19-inch aluminum wheels that are, as the name trim name suggests, painted black, as well as black mirror caps, tinted taillights, customizable interior ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and more.

Finally, it’s another price cut for the top-of-the-line trim level, the Taos Highline. For 2025, it starts at $38,995, about $700 less than it did last year. It comes with leather seating in Titan Black or Blue Night (depending on what exterior colour you opt for), and gets 19-inch alloy-machined wheels, satellite navigation, dynamic road sign display, and ventilated front seats.

The updated 2025 Volkswagen Taos will reach Canadian dealerships later this year.
