Ford Bronco Attempts to Crawl Over Cop Cars in Toronto to Escape Tim Horton’s Drive-Thru

When the police surround a Tim Hortons, it normally has to do with how fresh the donuts are, but a dramatic incident at a location near Westwood Square, in Mississauga, Ont., this week was decidedly less delicious.

Peel Regional Police showed up on the scene on Tuesday, September 3, after receiving reports that a vehicle was driving suspiciously, the department told AutoTrader in an email. The person had reportedly stolen from a nearby store weeks earlier and had reportedly returned with weapons.

By the time officers arrived, they found the suspect in a red Ford Bronco, which police say was stolen. They tried to stop the man, who in turn attempted to flee. Video of the incident posted to social media shows that the Bronco was in a Tim Hortons drive-thru when two police cruisers parked in front of it to stop its progress.

Intent on escaping, the Bronco driver kept creeping forward, despite security camera footage showing an officer outside the vehicle with his gun pointed at the SUV. The situation only escalated from there, as the suspect attempted to drive over the police vehicles, eventually clambering over the hood of a Dodge Charger, and rolling between it and a Durango, leaving one wheel helplessly airborne.

Although the Ford couldn’t climb all the way over the police vehicles, it was still able to back up and get all four wheels back on the pavement. However, by the time it was back on the ground, another officer was able to pull up behind the Bronco to hem it in.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported due to the incident, but the SUV’s escape attempt was a particularly dangerous one, forcing an officer in the Charger to jump out of their vehicle as the Bronco climbed their cruiser and smashed their windshield.

Despite the attempted monster-truck-style escape, the SUV’s 25-year-old driver was eventually taken into custody and is now facing charges of possessing property obtained by crime, fleeing from and obstructing a peace officer, and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
