2025 BMW 2 Series Receives Feature Updates, M2 Gets A Power Bump

Right after introducing a mid cycle refresh for the 3 Series and M3, BMW has gone ahead and updated its 2 Series and M2 coupe.

The exterior changes for the 2 Series are minor, with the coupe now getting two new paint shades, Vegas Red and Skyscraper Grey metallic, on the 230i xDrive and M240i xDrive trims. In addition, the Zandvoort Blue colour scheme, previously exclusive to the M2, has been made available for the M240i.

The brand has also introduced a new optional M Sport Pro Package on all the trims of the 2 Series. This consists of headlights with a darker tint, a rear spoiler at the back and blacked-out elements like the front air vent surrounds, mirrors, and rear spoiler. Another key change is the inclusion of new optional 19-inch wheels.

For the M2, there are 14 paint options to choose from with the new ones being Sao Paulo Yellow, Vegas Red metallic, Frozen Pure Grey metallic, and Frozen Portimao Blue II metallic. The M quad tailpipes are now finished in black chrome as standard and the badges on the grille and the trunk get a dual-tone black and silver finish.

The refreshed 2 Series remains mechanically unchanged as the 230i continues to be powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque while the M240i’s 3.0L turbocharged inline-six delivers 382 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Both are paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and get all-wheel drive as standard.

However, the 3.0L twin-turbocharged inline-six engine on the M2 has been uprated to produce 473 hp, which is 20 hp more than before. When paired with the six-speed manual transmission, the engine develops 406 lb-ft of torque and with the eight-speed automatic, it’s rated at 443 lb-ft.

BMW has made incremental changes inside the cabin, too. Namely, the addition of a new operating system for the curved display consisting of the 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen. Similar to the refreshed 3 Series, this new system now allows the user to operate climate control functions, as well as the heated steering wheel and seats by touch or voice command.

Also new is the waterfall ambient lighting system near the central air vents that has nine colour options. The refreshed 2 Series now comes equipped with two new steering wheels, with the base 230i sporting a two-spoke wheel and the M240i featuring a flat-bottomed, leather-wrapped wheel that can also equipped in the former via the M Sport Package. Fresh upholstery and interior trim have also been added to the 2 Series, while the M2 gets carbon bucket seats as a standalone option.

Pricing for the 2025 BMW 2 Series is set to start at $49,300, while the updated M2 will cost $78,300 in Canada. The refreshed 2 Series and M2 coupe will be manufactured in Mexico alongside the updated 3 Series and see a market launch in August 2024.
