High-end electric car startup Lucid has announced Canadian pricing for the production version of its Air luxury sedan.
Lucid Air pricing starts at $105,000 for the entry-level Pure trim level, whose single-motor, rear-wheel drive layout boasts 480 hp and a promised 653 km of driving range.
All other Lucid Air models use a dual-motor AWD powertrain for 620 to 1,111 hp, the latter spec applying to Air Dream Edition Performance trim, which goes for $229,000 and promises 758 km on a full charge. The Dream Edition also comes in a Range configuration with 933 hp and 836 km of range.
Lucid says it will start delivering production cars to paying U.S. customers by the end of October, with Canadian deliveries to “follow shortly after.” That could make Lucid the next EV startup to reach Canadian roadways; electric truck maker Rivian has promised it will begin deliveries of its R1T pickup in January.
The company is accepting $400 online reservations for the Air, save for the Dream Edition, for which Canadian reservations have closed, according to Lucid's website.
Dream Edition versions of the Lucid Air use a 113-kWh battery the company says will boast the fastest charging times of any EV, period, with the ability to add 32 km of range per minute when plugged into a DC fast charger.
Some of the Lucid Air’s features include 19-inch wheels, with the option of 20- and 21-inchers, an available glass canopy roof, Nappa full-grain leather and natural wood interior trim, and a driver assistance system that will accept future over-the-air updates to allow semi-autonomous driving.
