Stellantis has pulled the wraps off of the updated 2022 Jeep Compass ahead of its Canadian market arrival this fall.
The 2022 Jeep Compass features a mildly restyled exterior, a completely overhauled interior and a swathe of new technologies. The most dramatic changes have occurred in the vehicle's cabin, which features a large new 8.4-inch infotainment display, which is the largest standard display in this segment. Customers can also opt for a larger 10.1-inch infotainment display and an available 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster if they want a little more screen space. Other new available features include a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a universal garage door opener, heated and ventilated front seats, and a heated multi-function steering wheel.
Another major addition to the updated 2022 Jeep Compass is the Highway Assist semi-autonomous driving system. This technology, which will be offered on both Limited and Trailhawk models, pairs lane-centring technology with adaptive cruise control to provide what Stellantis calls "hands-on-wheel and eyes-on-road automated driving." Other new available safety features include traffic sign Recognition, pedestrian/cyclist automatic emergency braking and a 360-degree surround view camera system.
Under the hood is Jeep’s now familiar 2.4-litre Tigershark four-cylinder engine, which produces 177 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque. Models with 4x4 will feature a nine-speed automatic transmission, while two-wheel-drive models get a six-speed automatic. Jeep says it has also re-tuned the Compass' suspension for this updated model, mildly improving on-road handling feel and off-road capability.
Jeep says the Compass will see fuel economy returns of as low as 7.6 L/100 km when equipped with two-wheel-drive, along with a total range of about 640 km. Models equipped with 4x4 will also be able to tow up to 2,000 lb – unchanged from the pre-update modely year 2021 Jeep Compass.
Available in North, Altitude, Limited, and Trailhawk trim levels, the 2022 Jeep Compass will begin arriving at Canadian dealerships this fall. Pricing has not yet been announced. Prices for the current model year2021 Jeep Compass, for reference, start at $30,790.
