The three-row luxury crossover space just got a bit more competitive with the debut of the 2022 Infiniti QX60, which introduces new styling and the latest technology to the already popular nameplate.
The 2022 Infiniti QX60 will arrive at Infiniti dealerships in Canada later this year with a 3.5L V6 engine producing 295 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. A nine-speed automatic will serve as the sole transmission option, while all-wheel drive will come standard across the board. This is a similar powertrain to what’s offered in the current QX60, however, this new model boasts a tow rating of up to 6,000 lbs – which is 20 per cent higher than the outgoing model.
Infiniti says the 2022 QX60’s exterior styling will usher in a “new era of design” for the automaker, so this three-row crossover should give us a good idea of where its design direction is headed in the coming years. Compared to the outgoing QX60, this new model has a more squared-off and upright shape, giving it a tougher appearance and more road presence. Familiar Infiniti styling cues remain, however, including the company’s double-arched grille and slim LED headlamps. The vehicle also debuted in a new Moonbow Blue exterior color, which is apparently inspired by the “full moon light on a humid summer evening.”
Inside, the QX60 will come standard with a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and USB-based Android Auto, while a 12.3-inch instrument panel display will be offered as an option. Additionally, a 10.8-inch head-up display will be offered for drivers who want immediate access to important information like vehicle speed and navigation directions. Other standard features include a panoramic moonroof, tri-zone climate control, and eight-way power front seats. The crossover will standard come with Infiniti’s new “Zero Gravity” front seats, as well, which “more closely follow the natural curvatures of the human spine and reduce pressure on the hips,” for superior ergonomics, the automaker says.
A new Autograph trim level will move the QX60 a bit more upmarket, incorporating high-end features like standard second-row captain’s chairs and semi-aniline leather upholstery with quilted stitching. All Autograph models will also receive a contrasting black-painted roof.
Convenience features that made the outgoing QX60 so popular with families, like the one-touch sliding second-row seats and split-folding second- and third-row seats, have carried over into this new model. Child seat-ready second-row seats are also standard across the board.
Standard active safety features include rear automatic braking, predictive forward collision warning, and forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection. A few active safety items will be optional equipment, including adaptive front lighting and auto-leveling headlights.
The 2022 Infiniti QX60 will arrive in Canada in late 2021. Information with regard to pricing and features availability will be announced at a later date.
