Subaru has just announced pricing for the 2020 Subaru BRZ. The car's not changed this year, but neither is the price. It will start from $27,995 for what Subaru calls the most affordable rear-drive sports car in Canada.
Of course, there's not much competition these days. Mainly coming from its sibling at Toyota which had a 2019 price of $29,990, Chevrolet's Camaro that starts at $29,845, or the Ford Mustang for $30,699.
So what do you get for just under $28K? It starts with Subaru's trademark flat-four, here a 2.0L version making 205 hp if you pick the six-speed manual or 200 hp if you opt for the six-speed auto. Both the close-ratio manual and the automatic come with a Torsen mechanical limited-slip rear differential to make sure that both rear tires are turning when you're powering out of corners.
The base trim also comes with 17-inch alloys, LED head- and taillights, and a 7.0-inch infotainment system that offers GPS navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Subaru's own StarLink phone interface. While the base trim is manual-only, the Sport-Tech trim comes as automatic only. It also offers push-button start with proximity key entry, black leather, and Alcantara seating with red contrast stitching, and heating for the front seats. Finally, Sport-Tech RS is only available with the three-pedal option and it adds performance Sachs dampers and Brembo brakes to the equipment of the Sport-Tech along with unique gunmetal alloys.
The 2020 Subaru BRZ arrives this month at Subaru dealers across Canada.
