Mercedes-AMG is bringing the sound and fury of their twin-turbo 4.0L V8 to the big screen. With huge sound, rubber smells, massive picture and seat-shaking fury.
It's a new 30-second experience designed, recorded, and produced for Cineplex 4DX and D-Box theatres. A 2018 AMG E 63 S 4Matic sedan was recorded by multiple microphones so that it can be broadcast in 9.1 channel Dolby Atmos sound.
Viewers at a D-Box capable theatre will experience the big screen with big sound, and seat vibrations to convey the E 63's 603 hp engine and massive grip. 4DX moviegoers will experience the smell of burning tires and bursts of wind as the sedan rockets around the track.
Of course, the car will also be projected on the big theatre screen in high definition, but only for a brief moment, as the majority of the 30-second spot will be full black to focus on the engine sound, plus smell and vibrations where available.
It's a unique way to experience Mercedes-AMG, and is the first time an automaker has done something like this in Canada. The campaign will play at select 4DX and D-Box equipped Cineplex theatres across Canada starting tomorrow. It plays as part of the pre-movie show on those screens.
The ad will run for four weeks, starting December 22. It will also run as a pre-roll ad on YouTube for the same period.
