Wallace Detroit Gives Chevy Trucks Sweet Sounding Anniversary Present

Wallace Detroit Guitars is presenting Chevrolet with a special guitar to mark 100 years of Chevy trucks. The guitar previews a limited run of 100 that will have a special connection to the pickup line.

Wallace Detroit Guitars makes instruments that are more Motown than most. They're made from reclaimed wood from buildings and landmarks around Detroit. To help Chevrolet celebrate 100 years of trucks, Wallace handcrafted a special instrument which was presented to Chevrolet at the Country Music Association Awards.

The presentation guitar is made from wood sourced from the floorboards of the old Detroit Fire Department Headquarters. The wood was removed when the building was renovated in 2013. The maple has been formed into the firm's Wallacaster shape. The guitar will have a Chevrolet 100th Anniversary Blue pickguard, with pickups - the guitar kind - designed to resemble the classic Chevy bowtie.

The special guitar is a preview of a run of 100 guitars that will be formed from reclaimed wood taken from Chevrolet's Fort Wayne, IN, pickup truck assembly plant. Details about those guitars will be revealed in a few weeks.

After the 100th-anniversary guitar was presented at the CMAs, it was signed by artists attending the award ceremony, then will be auctioned off for charity. Rumours that the guitar will only play Bob Seger's Like a Rock are completely unfounded, but it would probably sound great.
