Refreshed 2018 Acura RLX Arrives In Showrooms

The redesigned 2018 RLX, Acura’s flagship luxury sedan, began arriving in showrooms today, complete with a new look that incorporates elements of the brand’s new design language.
The model received new rear and front end styling, with the major focus up front being on the signature diamond pentagon grille. Other design changes include a more sculpted hood, new wheels, revamped LED taillights, dual exhaust finished and a gloss black rear diffuser.
The 2018 model also offers a new TrafficJam Assist function, as well as six new exterior paint colours, two of which are premium: Brilliant Red Metallic and Majestic Black Pearl.
The latest RLX continues to be available in two Sport Hybrid all-wheel drive trims: the base Tech version starts at C$65,490, while the Elite starts at C$69,990. Those prices are unchanged from Canadian 2017 MSRPs, unlike in the US, where the Sport Hybrid was reduced by US4,050.
Acura says that the RLX Sport Hybrid is the most powerful model in its line-up after the NSX.
It couples that V6 engine to three electric motors and the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system. The result is a powerful sedan that generates 377 total horsepower and 341 lb-ft of torque. The Sport Hybrid gets a motor-integrated 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
The RLX interior also gets improvements, including redesigned Milano leather seats with contrasting piping and stitching. There’s also an optional Espresso interior and black headliner.
The RLX offers features such standard features as a heads-up display, remote starts system and heated steering wheel, while a Krell audio system ventilated seats, power rear sunshade and heated rear outboard seats are available on the Elite.
