Fiat 124 Spider to Start at $33,495

Fiat Canada has just announced pricing of the all new 124 Spider. The Mazda MX-5 platform sharing 124 Spider will come in three trim levels, starting with the Classica for $33,495. The Classica will come with 16-inch wheels, dual exhaust, a black roll bar, cloth seats, a six-speed manual transmission, halogen headlights and LED tails. It will be available in five colours, Rosso Passione (Red), Bianco Gelato (White), Nero Cinema (Jet Black Metallic), Grigio Argento (Grey Metallic), and Grigio Moda (Dark Grey Metallic). A six-speed automatic will be available for about $1,500 more ($34,990).

Next up is the $36,495 Lusso (luxury) which will add 17-inch wheels, a silver windshield surround, chrome exhaust and heated leather seats in black or saddle along with leatherette accents on the dash and under the instrument panel. The Lusso with an automatic will be $37,990.

Both the Classica and the Lusso will come with Fiat's 1.4-litre MultiAir Turbo four-cylinder engine, The engine delivers 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft. of torque, while achieving 9.0 l/100 km city/6.7 l/100 km highway with the manual gearbox and 9.3/6.5 with the automatic.

The 124 Spider Abarth will add five horsepower (to 165), 17-inch gun metal wheels and exterior accents, a sport suspension and a mechanical limited slip rear differential. It will also have a sport-tuned quad tip exhaust, unique front and rear fascias. Brembo brakes and Recaro sport seats will be available as options. The Abarth will be $37,995 for the manual and $39,490 for the automatic, in the same five colours as the Classica.

Finally, to celebrate the return of the Spider nameplate, the first 124 cars will be the limited-edition Prima Edizione Lusso. They will all have the six-speed automatic, GPS, LED head and taillights, and a Bose stereo. They will be individually numbered and come only in a special bronze metallic paint with saddle colour leather seats. The 2017 Fiat 124 Spider Prima Edizione Lusso has a Canadian price of $42,190.

The 2017 Fiat 124 Spider will also be available with safety and security features including Blind-spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path Detection, Park-Sense Rear Park Assist and ParkView Rear Back-up Camera, as well as passive entry with keyless go, Bluetooth connectivity, heated seats and a FIAT Connect 7.0 media centre with Bose nine-speader stereo. It will arrive at dealers this summer.
