Blue Oval announces availability of top-line hot hatch along with new Ford Performance division
It's official: the next Ford Focus RS will be coming to Canada!
Ford announced today the top-line compact hot hatchback will be one of "more than 12" new performance models to come from the company between now and 2020. That's a lot of horsepower in a lot of different wrappers!
The plan was announced along with the debut of Ford Performance -- a new division within Ford that combines regional performance engineering and racing teams under one organization.
“Ford remains committed to innovation through performance,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development.
“Our new global Ford Performance team ties together racing, performance vehicles and parts. It will allow us to more quickly introduce products and accessories that meet the needs of customers around the world on-road and on the track.”
The Focus RS has been popular in Europe but never made its way to North America. This will be the first time the hot hatch will be available in the United States and Canada.
Expect the Ford Focus RS and a number of other performance models to debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month.
