1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Barrett Jackson Scottsdale 2020 - Concord

To be sold NO RESERVE at Barrett Jacksons Scottsdale auction January 11 to 19, 2020. This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible #4007 was originally produced on January 10th, 1957 at the Oshawa Assembly Plant (GM Canada paperwork provided). This motorcar is 1-of-1,136 Bel Air Convertibles (body #1067D) built for sale in Canada for entire 1957 model year. Rolling off the factory floor in Dusky Rose Metallic (003) with Silver & Ivory Trim (677) this motorcar was delivered to its original owner by Dueck GM on Broadway, the authorized Chevrolet dealer at the time. In 1957, Canadian-built Chevs differed somewhat from their U.S counterparts and these differences are clearly evident on this example. For instance, ALL Canadian-built cars had one-piece front bumpers and had a different serial number system and option codes than the U.S versions. The Canadian cars also were refinished in enamel paint as opposed to the lacquer applied to the U.S. cars and as a result, the colour names were also different. 1957 was the first year for Canadian enamels. Incredibly well optioned when delivered new, this vehicle included: 283ci 185HP 2-Speed Automatic Engine and Transmission, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Power Seat and Power Top, Wunderbar Bar Radio, Spinner Hubcaps, Dual Rear Antennas, Continental Kit, Radial White Wall Tires, and much more Purchased from its original owner in 1964 by Mr B Coral. Traded to Standard Garage in August of 1965 on a 1963 Chevrolet convertible. Sold to 3rd owner Mr K Rohatyn in August of 1965 for $900.00. During his ownership, Mr Rohatyn would paint the car Matallic Blue. Sold to his brother in-law Mr B Allison in 1966 for $1,000.00 this vehicle would remain in his custodianship until 1975. This motorcar would again be sold within the city for $125.00 to Mr R Peterson. Having passed on before he had the chance to complete the project, The Peterson family would commission a complete restoration of this motorcar to factory specifications in memory of their patriarch. Upon completion the vehicle was enjoyed by generations through one family ownership until the summer of 2011 when the car was sold by then owner Mr D Sobchuck to its most recent owner Mr B Lassen. Beginning in 2002 this motorcar would be sent for a 6-year complete body-off restoration to the highest standards by marque and classic car specialists Legendary Motorcar. With no expense spared, the body of this motorcar was stripped/sandblasted to bare metal, refinished, and repainted to factory original Chevrolet Dusky Rose Metallic (003). The chassis and underbody of the vehicle were both stripped and refinished in black. The engine of this motorcar was confirmed numbers-matching, and completely restored using only period correct factory parts and repainted with factory Chevrolet paint! The interior, trim, and convertible top were both completely removed and refinished with incredible attention to detail, using original factory-built color combination of Silver and Ivory Trim with White Soft Top. Invoices for the restoration are included and total $198,142.53. The restoration was performed to original specifications plus the value of the actual vehicle. Presented with its original numbers matching 283ci 185hp Turbo Fire V8 paired to the original 2-Speed automatic transmission. Included with this motorcar is the General Motors paperwork authenticating the vehicle, a full chronological history dating back to 2002, photo album with original vehicle photos, and recent restoration photos including body and paint, along with original sales brochure. A remarkably rare automobile, complete restoration, and complete documentation to prove the $200,000+ spent (including parts and labor) to bring this 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air Convertible back to its glory! Automatic, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Power Top, Continental Kit. GM Canada paperwork provided. Original numbers matching engine and transmission.
