Volvo XC90 2003-2011Change

This is a car that is very safe and confortable. It has a different type of class. It gives you tons of features and the car is strong. It's a good car and very reliable.

We purchased this as a three year old used vehicle and have not been disappointed. After adding 75,000km to the odometer we've managed to only need brakes and tires with regular oil changes at 8000km intervals. The V8 provides ample power and towing capability along with a year round average of 10.6l/100km. Not the best fuel economy on the market but for a vehcile with the comfort, heft, and safety features of this one, I'm pleased. My only complaint might be the over $300 cost to purchase a new bi-xenon bulb to replace one that burnt out. Decided to replace both at the same time and keep the old unspent bulb as a spare. However, the quality and brightness of the light they provide is another one of the many safety features I appreciate. Particularly given the booming deer population in our area.

Great performance and reliability. As long as you have had the transmission issues and water pump replaced under warranty, plus taken care of regular maintenance, you will have solid performance in a safe reliable vehicle.

When the car was new, it was remarkable! Excellent power, great service. A rock solid vehicle!

Unfortunately Volvos (including this particular trim), do not age well. Problems creep up fast and they are not cheap to repair. Too much technology for my liking - a failing power window is a result of 'the computer had to be calibrated'. Followed by a $400 bill.

Stay away from the 3.2 lines as they are notorious for their transmission issue. A powerful engine with a less than desirable shifter. A design flaw indeed.

Volvo parts are not cheap. Plus my biggest pet peeve is the way that these parts are shipped. For example, you must purchase the entire exhaust assembly to replace a rusted out clamp!

If you can find folks that can "properly" repair a Volvo, you are in luck. Otherwise it is the dealer for you!

At one point, the life span of a Volvo could easily be longer than 20 years. Unfortunately this is not the case. Give this car some thought before getting into it. A rock solid vehicle - no doubt about it. But you are paying premuim $$ for the name. A name that no longer represents what it used. There are many other cars out there that are just as safe with less than half the sticker price of a Volvo.

Yes a Volvo is safe - but could this be because it spends most of its life hoisted in a shop instead of it being on the road ? ;)

I drive all day for my job, and then I drive all evening and all weekend with the kids. With this vehicle I never complain of an uncomfortable ride. I am not sore or stiff because of the spacious interior and comfortable seats; love the heated leather! The kids love the built in DVD and I love that it came with wireless headphones. This SUV has optional 2 seats in the back that fit adults. It can tow, it's AWD and it a 5cyl. The only downfall, like most SUV's is gas consumption. The best part of my SUV is that I feel safe in it :-)

After have 2 BMW X5 in a row we decided to try the Volvo 7 passengers vehicle with 8 cylinders engine

We liked the look, it has been reliable but the performance was not at par to our expectations.

First: it doesn't turn in small area like other similar size vehicles we've driven.

Second: The ride feels like a big boat, we're not felling the road compared to a Mercedes or a BMW

Third: For a 8 Cylinder ... expensive I might say ... never felt I had the benefit like I had with my X5 4.4 L

This is the second Volvo XC90 I have owned and i have no complaints. Its a great, safe family hauler ... that happens to haul ***. The V8 engine has 311 horsepower providing excellent passing power needed for those weekend trips along two lane highways. Avergae fuel consumption (City & Hwy) since we have owned is approximately 11 L per 100 km. Although the exterior is starting to get a little outdated, the interior is very roomy & comfortable. We have the seven seater which comes in handy when you need the extra seats. Overall, i'm very happy with my XC90 R design.
