Volkswagen Jetta 1986-2019Change

out of the 12 cars I have owned this one is the best, great inside and outside, never had any problems with it. Its fast responsive and a hoot to drive!

I bought my 2002 Jetta TDI 4 years ago with 182000 kilometres on it from the Volkswagon dealership in Victoria BC.
I now have almost 300000 kilometres on it and it's still going strong.
My only complaint is the recent issue I've had with the engine air intake manifold and having it clog up. I started noticing less and less power about 6 months ago and it finally reached a ridiculous level, so I found a good local mechanic that specializes in these cars . This is a somewhat common occurrence on this model of car from my understanding, but a clean intake manifold has made it like a brand new car again!
This still hasn't tarnished my belief that this is one of the best cars you can buy and I would't hesitate to buy a newer model sometime down the road or recommend it to my friends and family.
Mileage has been phenomenal, with my best tank getting 1250kms (I estimated to be around 49mpg). On average I'll get between 1050 and 1150kms per tank.
One other note, this car is REALLY good in the snow. I've never had snow tires on it - just good all-seasons - and I've never had a problem with winter driving. I even took it up a local ski hill known for it's bad road in a snowstorm (chains in the trunk just in case) but it made it NO problem.

No worries. always dependable. Was owned by our duaghter in law to go back and forth to her teaching job. Very sharp little vechicle. Easy to get around. Needs new tires but other than that perfect in everyway.

Small car but has lots of storage and room in the backseat and trunk. Great fuel economy. Easy to park and turning radius is amazing. Radio and stereo are still working great after 5 years.

This is my first German car and I am very much pleased with the performance. Handing of this car is amazing and I would say it is much better than a Japanese car in this price range. I am very much impressed with all the Safety and security features of this car, big size trunk for this size car. I am selling this car as I am moving out of the country.

I bought the Jetta new at the end of the season, and have truly enjoyed it. I'm 6' tall, and have no issues fitting, downside is only infants in a car seat can sit behind me or children with small legs. The only issuesI have had with the car are: 1. The plug for block heater (mounted in front grill housing) broke first time i tried to use it. Haven't plugged it in since and I live in Edmonton, so it can get cold! 2. Blower motor for heater has gone once (under warranty) and is making noise again.

Otherwise I would buy another Jetta, I have been very happy todate. My jetta has just over 160,000 KM and I've fixed the above issues, new tires and regular maintence. So the costs have been very minor.

This car likes to hug the road especially corners.
Heated seats are great any time of year.
Multi adjustable Driver's seat and lots of control panel options.

Very dependable with minimum maintenance, Easy to find parts and cheap. Great on gas too. Did alot of long trip and never had a breakdown

This car is for sure a huge money saver, if you are willing to spend money to start off. Eventually it pays off. The only thing is reparations are a bit costy. Other than that it looks Okay on the outside. A bit better in the inside with leather and stuff. Overall is a good car!

great car , number one for whinter, nice performance but only 450 kilometers with full fuel. good car for my family, enough place in the trunk, and enough place for my two children

I love this car, it's extremely fun to drive and handles very well in all weather conditions. My only complaint is the cup holders which continually spill my coffee.

I love this car, only selling because we use just one car at a time, this one is not being driven enough.

Spent many a ride in this car. Very reliable. Stylish in my opinion. Recieved many compliments. Fuel economy was decent. Very fast.

have had an excellent run with my jetta, a lovely car. fuel mileage seems unbeatable. i have put over 500 000kms on my jetta and its still running well aside from its regular check ups

Three years ago I was on my way home from my friends house. It was very late nigdt and snowing hard. I was the only one on the road so I decided to take the highway thinking that it would be clear from snow since its a highway. but no, snow was very thick on the ground and still snowing hard. Anyway, asI was driving my car slide and brought me in to the ditch. I waited to see if someone would pass and help me but no, there is no one. I'm getting cold so I decided to rescue myself I tried pushing but the car wont move so I got back inside and start the engine and pressed the gas and moving the car with my body. After 30 minutes of doing the same the tires started to move and Im out of there. My experience I never forget.

This car is in great shape and will last a long time.

gets ~57 mpg, that's 750-800 km on 45L or $60 of diesel fuel

I have really enjoyed driving it but I am staying close to Guelph these days and have a truck, two vehicles is too much for my current close to home life style.

It has been well maintained and my mechanic who has known this car through its last three owners spanning the last 5-6 years says "that's a good car" with emphasis. It runs great, gets great fuel economy and is extremely reliable, it also goes pretty good with great low end acceleration.

Got a good deal on this car, however its not up to the standards i thought it would be, having nothing but problems with it since i bought it second hand a few months ago.

I purchased this car in May 2003 it was brand new, and 5 spd diesel.. oh the trauma, i came from a 1993 Lincoln town car to this.. it was an adjustment, but will my sales job at the time, the diesel fuel economy and it was a god sent, I take very good care of my Jetta, and it's now just over 245,000 km. Still with the original clutch! (not bad) for a someone that didn't drive standard before buying it.!
The heated seats, the leather package, the fold down seats, you can really pile a lot of stuff in..

Diesel, never fails. Loved it very comfortable, and pretty stylish for what its worth! Have never had a problem and i am cruising past 200 000 kms. Great buy if under 7000$

I love this car, I have a 5-speed manual VR6 model, I've had it for many years. Fun to drive and good pick up. Only thing is it breaks down quite too frequently, dependable but as it ages, not so much. i'd love to stay in the jetta family so I'll probably be upgrading to the newer models

Loved this car, solid, feel very safe, reliable, would love to keep it as a 2nd car but can't. I love the triptonic shift and find it great in the winter for driving.. It has great pick up in sport mode which again is a great feature. Heated seats are great too...

getting approx 550KMs on a tank of gas. city driving. Highway is even better.

I liked the car. Its comfortable and really good to drive. We have Ford Truck but i like to drive my car JETTAA.

Loved this car.
PROS: Performance, Design (The Germans were ahead of the game on this one)
CONS: Fuel economy was terrible (thats what you get with a VR6). Car required a little more maintenance than one would expect (I.E Coil Packs)

Overall I would buy this car again. Fun to drive and the sound of a VR6 is something to brag about ;)

I could never, ever go back to normal cars. The diesel is amazing on fuel! It's comfortable, the features are amazing.
